Great dinner before Book of Mormon at Mezzo. Beautiful oysters, barramundi and outstanding service. Will be back. Prixomity to the Princess theatre is also a big plus. Good food. Good value.

Fabulous! We booked here for a quick dinner before the show! It was great! Nice NZ wine, friendly waiters mindful of our time constraint, beautiful meal. We choose the two course theatre special and between the two of us , had three courses still with time to spare. Oysters, fish - yum! Schnitzel and ice cream to follow - everything... More

We opted for the two meal (entree and main) pre-theatre dining experience and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. The portions were generous (we genuinely couldn't eat dessert) and the service was wonderful. We ordered the shared entree, the beef cheek and the gnocchi. We would definitely recommend trying mezzo before any pre-theatre experience.

Booked via Dimmi, they had no record, though I had an emailed confirmation from the restaurant itself. They still had a table free. The service was hit and miss, pooring the wine whilst looking elsewhere. I am not short, but the side seat was too wide for me to get comfortable, I asked for a cushion, which was never forthcoming.... More

Absolutely delicious entree share plates - arancini balls and calamari. Excellent choice of mains and the Barramundi was superb. Great share deserts as well. Definitely a top notch restaurant this one.

Visit this restaurant for a friend birthday party. The food and service were very good. Menu simple but what they put on menu are good. But finding parking in Melbourne cbd also too expensive. Free parking around after 8.30pm

Menu not overly extensive but food is delicious Entree and main sizes offered for most dishes which is great I had the calamari salad which was probably the worst dish as it was thinly sliced and crumbed and over cooked and dry HOWEVER the remaining 10 people in my group's meals were highly praised I did sample the prawn risotto... Excellent efficient staff, arrived, shown to table drinks provided and meal served promptly- set menu package, enjoyable but not outstanding, salad was lots of lettuce with dressing, not high end dining. However reasonably priced and meal costed to price charged. Requested extra bread roll and that was not a problem. Restaurant had run out of stock of Australian King Valley... More

I suspect if I hadn't been in a large group I would have given Mezzo 5 stars. Service was excellent but the meals bit of a let down. My main of schnitzel was bit on the dry side, the entrees good but nothing outstanding. Having said that service and what I did have would bring me back to try again... More

We enjoyed pre-theatre dining at this restaurant. The staff were so accommodating and worked hard to ensure patrons were out in time to attend various theatre productions. The theatre menu was very reasonable and they make great cocktails. We also loved the oxtail ragu!

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
