Traditional English surroundings in this establishment. There are more than enough different beers on tap to suit most palates, and meals are sort of traditional English with an Aussie flair. Cumberland sausages and mash/vegetables was my choice and was just a bit more up market than your traditional bangers and mash. Nice cold Guinness on tap which suited me. Service... More

Awesome food and awesome beer. Shame about the front of house bloke? Luckily we had a lovely English lass. She was fantastic and we very friendly so thank you for that.

Situated in the middle of town this establishment works well on a mass production scale. Staff do their job well and the place operates efficiently however it lacks a certain warmth. If you want to drink beer with a few mates it's OK but if you want ambience maybe not.

We always pop in here as the have a great selection of draught beers, especially appreciated if you are from the UK. The food here is also good.

We had a bite and a pint here recently and enjoyed our experience at this vibrant inner city pub. The food was good portions and delicious, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was great.

We have eaten here many times without a problem, but today was a disgrace. We arrived at midday , we ordered two bowls of chips at a cost of $8.50 a bowl and a plate of bubble and squeak. We waited 40 min, when finally someone came to our table with one bowl of chips and the bubble and squeak.... More

This is a fantastic heritage building in the melbourne cbd. It is a fantastic place to get away from the busy streets to enjoy a meal and an ale. Theres lots of different levels and stairs with tv sports channels displayed. The food was fresh and quickly served and staff friendly.

Was tempted by the specials menu, you cant go past a hot Roast with vegs and all the trimmings on a cold wet and miserable Sunday. The gravy was lovely and thick but I could of done with more of the delish crackling that was sprinkled on top more as a seasoning than a side. Good selection of Australian wines... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
