Five of attended friendly welcome I had a booking and where offered a choice to tables which was good. The owner brought out a small garlic bread each tasty. Then two gnocchi sorrentina which both persons said they like the sauce but as the gnocchi had been in the oven it was rubbery and not light and fluffy as they... More

Loved this restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly. The place has a charming atmosphere and I felt like I was at home. The food also was equally as pleasing. Absolutely delicious meals! I even ate calamari (I don't even like calamari, guess I do now). The artwork on the walls is wonderful to look at... More

The decor and atmosphere of this restaurant led us to anticipate an outstanding night. Unfortunately the main fare failed to impress. Shared antipasto was generous and tasty, however the gnocchi and marinara were of average quality. Adequate wine list and deserts were acceptable.

After traveling through Italy in 2015 and enjoying the simple, flavoursome food on offer, it was a delight to find Scugnizzo in Little Bourke Street. We had lunch here with a pizza and liguine with seafood ordered. The pizza was enough for two, but with no fuss, the remainder was packed in a takeaway box. This was Diavola and we... More

In Melb for business and looking for some Italian food. Walked down Little Bourke and thought I would try this restaurant. What a great choice, very friendly staff and the food was magnificent. Reasonably priced and good sized quantity. I would recommend this to any who like a quiet, old style restaurant.

Sitting in the restaurant I decided to look up the TripAdvisor (I like reading what other people have said when I go somewhere and often read comments while I'm there) I honestly guffawed when I saw some of the reviews - this place is amazing! We were welcomed immediately after walking in the door by a lovely waiter who sat... More

I had dinner with a girlfriend who was visiting from Sydney. Being a Tuesday night it wasn't very busy but we had fast and friendly service and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We ordered ravioli which was dry and definitely not home made I really could not eat mine at all. Overall an enjoyable evening but disappointed with the... More

We loved this so much we came back the next night. The Osso bucco the first night was fantastic. The anti-pasto, excellent. The service was so good both fri and sat night. We were given ideas for stuff to do in Melbourne which we did and this significantly added to our pleasure. From the moment of the complimentary little garlic... More

Made a booking for 20 people and chose their fixed price of $70 per head for an entree and main. The food was competently cooked and presented but way overpriced for what we received. The mains consisted of the main ingredient(meat, fish or vegetarian) plus one vegetable, no salads or other vegetables for the table or small dishes as the... More

We understand that while aiming to please everyone it is not always possible. We would always appreciate the opportunity to address and eliminate any issues or concerns at the time. With all due respect, your group was offered the a la carte menu as we always offer this option for groups of 20-30 as it works out best for everyone,... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
