Had breakfast here a couple of times and had no complaints. Staff were friendly and the food nicely prepared and service was quick. Coffee was also good. Nice and quiet on the weekend.

Drop in for a coffee and a quick catch up, sit down for a casual lunch. Great Space Cafe is a consistently good Coffee Shop / Cafe at the top end of Collins St.

Meeting for business? Do it over a coffee. Cheap and good. Breakfast and lunch menus available. Especially good if meeting is with a Telstra person as it is in the same building.

We had a very nice breakfast here. The prices are really reasonable and the food tasted delicious. The scrambled eggs on toast (1 slice) was enough to fill you, the potato hash was homemade and could have happily eaten another one. Husband had the granola which was nice also - not the best he's had. Service was good also. Other... More

This café has existed for years. I've known it since 1999. It suits white collar workers from the towers above and guests of the Sofitel Hotel. It's a popular choice for breakfasts. On my most recent visit I found the service lacking: no greeting etc. I noticed that Great Space offers catering and took away a pamphlet menu.

Great place to eat. Discovered the café on our second day & ate both breakfast & lunch there. Best raisin toast I've eaten & they offer an extensive breakfast menu. Staff are particularly helpful & provide good service

It's always a good indicator when you see the locals ordering their takeaway coffees before heading to work! This cafe is always busy for a good reason; but the wait times are brief as the staff are very attentive. I always order the scrambled eggs and bacon as it's served on unbuttered sour dough toast and is just how I... More

Walked in and took a seat by myself as there was no one to greet me or show me to a table. Waited for 30mins and then eventually had to go up to the counter and order my own food as I was being completely ignored by the waitresses. Food was below average and overpriced. Won't return again.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
