We stopped in here for a quick breakfast on a day trip to Melbourne. It had a great feel about it and they did a great hot chocolate. Breakfast was tasty. The only downside was hearing 2 staff members openly arguing about rostering right behind us while we ate and while we paid our bill.

Said table service then asked me to walk inside pay the bill. Ok then couldn't find what table I was on. Grudge was that I had a take away coffee in my hand which I did not consume at the table. Did not offer salt or pepper. Openly complaining about the customer in the cafe in sight of other customers.... More

Recently stumbled over this little café in Melbourne, located close to Bourke Street. My partner and I ordered the two specials of the day, my partner had the pasta and I had chickpea soup. Pasta was fairly nice, the soup was very oily and not overly flavoursome. Food isn't overly cheap for what you get. The coffee on the other... More

This cafe is situated just off Bourke St Mall and is a great little treasure. We had the lunch special which was Wagu beef ragu for about $12 , also great wine selection for a cafe . Good service and great atmosphere.

Strolled in last Friday and loved the look if this place. Coffee was excellent and the banana bread tasted healthy. A little pricey however the service we received was excellent. It did get busier and other tables didn't receive the same service as we did. Loved it!

Just had a coffee, a ham and mushroom melt, and a fraisier. The coffee was good but the fraisier, which cost me $9.50, was disappointing: the cream was hard and the sponge dry. It was clearly stale. I personally would not recommend it given the price and nearby competition

Avo feta with poached eggs on sourdough and ham caramelised onion & poached eggs hit the spot for a fairly early breakfast. Presented well, and the sourdough was very very good. Excellent coffee, and The Block surroundings make for a lovely breakfast spot. Service was excellent

We stopped in for a late breakfast, knowing the coffee is good, the food is not pretentious and there is always a little human theatre. This must be a family business with generations running it.... something you don't come across often these days. The tables are lined up in the Royal Arcade and there is always a certain comraderie between... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
