Thank you for an enjoyable evening. Service at Cafe Cavallino is superb the friendly staff will see that every guest is happy with the food. The gluten free bases are delicious, and I also had a risotto with no diary and it was utterly yumo. If you arrive in a supercar, you may even get priority parking; -)

Interesting restaurant on the Lygon Street strip with lots of Ferrari memorabilia adorning the walls which made for conversation. Our waitress was very helpful an accommodating and the meals were enormous. Extensive menu which is great for feeding even the fussiest eater. Prices were as reasonable as any where else. Plenty of dining al fresco or inside. If you are... More

Went to my two friends and our kids (3 of them aged four), we were made to feel uncomfortable by the manager, like maybe we shouldn't leave the house without our husbands......Food was average.

We had a main, side and dessert each. It took a little while to get the food but it was worth the wait. Tasty not over the top and great portion sizes.

This restaurant is unmistakably Italian, the photos of Ferrari, the name "Cavallino" and featuring red in the furnishing makes this unmistakably authentic. The food ordered came out promptly and was good quality. The service was attentive without being over the top. The style of pizza was not minimalistic, and had a good balance of flavors. A pleasant experience - all... More

Grand Prix Friday and it's really happening on Lygon St. Stumbled onto this place and first impressions, they are very friendly, beautiful night so let's sit outside with the other 60 people. The staff were friendly, funny and very accommodating, considering how busy they were. We ordered a bottle of Chianti and the small antipasti, nice, but when I bit... More

We went for Sunday lunch, the pizza and pasta dishes we ordered were stunning, the homemade pasta was delicious and pizza's great, really enjoyed the food. The service was dreadful. The restaurant was not full but the staff kept looking over us and even with our hands in the air, they would disappear for a chat together outside. We had... More

We, as a party of six went there on Saturday night and then returned on the Sunday it was so good. The first thing you notice is the attention of the staff. They are so attentive to ensure that you have a great experience. The menu is extensive and there was something for all of us to eat. The boccini... More

First visit to Cafe Cavallino, staff very friendly and helpful and managed to seat our party of 6 in quick time. Food was delicious and very large sizes even though we ordered entree sizes a couple of people still didn't make it to the finish line. Only disappointment was that they sold out of Tiramisu before we got to order... More

My husband and I have been to this restaurant a few times. Mostly the food is quite ok, though service is somewhat lacking. When we went here last week I got an additional charge of 60c for some additional dressing for my Caesar salad, which astounded me as no restaurant I know of has ever charged me for that. I... More

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
