Always head here on our trips to Melbourne for their custard filled rolls and custard pan type bread, and then fpgra some little bags of treats to bring home, Freshly made and tasty best time to head there is when they open and things are warm,

I still love Breadtop after all these years and wish they would come to Tasmania. The twin sausage buns are the best. They take credit card in most stores which is convenient.

I am disgusted by the attitude of cashier, rude and cold, no hi when you enter into the shop, no eye contact, no thanks when you pay. I saw other unhappy customers. I went to buy a birthday cake and my birthday spirit was spoiled. Will never come into that place ever again.

The glass window filled with pastries and toasted baguettes looks welcoming, but don't be fooled, inside you will realise that both the sweet and savoury options are pre-prepared, and are left sitting in the cabinets until consumed. These are items that may have been appetizing, had they been freshly baked or at least warmed up. Instead, the cheese is congealed... More

This is a great place to grab a quick and tasty lunch. They have a huge range of breads to choose from and very reasonable prices. I recommend the Naan bread with caramalised onion, very tasty and naan was light and fresh.

This place has a wide range of pastries that are super yum, the staff there are nice and the price is pretty cheap, not bad if you want to eat on the go.

The variety of products here is great but it makes it hard to choose what to eat. Everything on display looks and sounds delicious. We ended up choosing 2 each and going halves in the 4 we got. Very yummy and although we were full we wanted more. Recommend everyone gives this place a visit.

I love Breadtop. I've been to Melbourne a few times over the last few years and two things can be guaranteed, sun burn and Breadtop. We often stay in hotels near Breadtop so we spend a lot of time in the area. Breadtop is great for a quick snack or grabbing a few things for a group of people. With... More

worn out after playing tourists and shopping we were heading back to our hotel and walked past this bakery, it was busy and the little rolls with a cherrio sausage in them looked really nice so we went in looking for a cheap afternoon tea snack to take back to our room. Bought four items (portugese tart, egg custard tart,... More

The bread here was awesome. There were so many varieties to try. We had blueberry and custard, spring onion pull apart, croissant. It was late on Sunday afternoon and it was still as soft and fresh as if it had just been baked.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
