We went to Chinchin on a Saturday night and as expected it was packed but they managed to find us a spot at the bar. High level review: great Thaï address. The food was delicious and the service was great (they explain what is in the fish and how to eat it the proper way). A place I recommend If... More

Service was speedy and friendly, the spring rolls are to die for - love the contrast in fried and fresh with lettuce and mint to wrap them in. The prawn, checked and banana blossom salad was good too, although the chicken wasn't amazing, and the green beans were delish. Also, after flight delays it was amazing to wander in to... More

Our experience was nothing short of stellar. After having the friendliest and most helpful waitress, Jess, spend way more time than she had to help us choose our plates, we experienced what was one of our favourite meals to date. Beyond delightful and worth every cent! Will definitely be returning next time we're in Melbourne.

This restaurant is right next to the Grand Hyatt, it was recommended to my by a friend so I wanted to try it. First day the line was very long and once we came to the hostess she said we have to wait 90min. That's a good problem to have for the restaurant which means it's a popular place. Tried... More

The wait for a table at 6pm on a Thursday night was 40 minutes, but they do have a bar downstairs while you wait. It's unique flavours but not the best Thai I've had. I would have preferred if the sticky pork was more pork belly, instead of just a very thick cut of pork. While the meat was slightly... More

What is not to like about this place. Quick trip to Melbourne to catch up with friends saw me having a very pleasurable solo lunch while I waiting for my mates to hit town. Cruised in about late lunch time and sat at the bar. The wait staff could not have been more relaxed friendly adept or professional. I snacked... More

Chin Chin is a unique restaurant in a league of its own. Be prepared for a dining experience of Asian food like no other in Melbourne. Yes, you need to arrive early as there is a queue which simply shows just how popular this restaurant is.

So worth the wait. The food and experience here is second to none. The flavours were nothing short of excellent. Four of us had a great meal before the theatre, sooooo good.

We lined up at about 6pm on Saturday night for dinner as they don't take reservations for two. The line was out the door down the road and round the corner already. We waited about half an hour in the line just to put our names down for a table. The wait was going to be an hour to an... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
