My partner is a real country boy that likes his meat and 3 veg. He is not a big fan of going out for breakfast where I love it. It's breakfast menu has a lot of variety from eggs Benedict, omelettes, pancakes, muesli, toast and more! It's lunch menu looked nice with lasagna, steak sandwich, beef burger, salads and for... We had breakfast at Cafe Excello every day during our time in Melbourne this week. Whilst the food was so tasty, with really healthy options it was the staff that made this great cafe so special. Such warm and friendly people, who treated three mature aged ladies from Tasmania feel like part of their family. This is where we will... More

I have been walking all around Melbourne in search of a good Eggs Benedict and today I finally found a great one. This place is fast, reasonably priced, and family friendly (they have high chairs). I am so sad I did not find it sooner! The coffee is excellent. It is a no frills restaurant but you get great food... More

We had a lovely cooked breakfast at this cafe on the outer edge of the CBD - generous serve, well cooked and great coffee to go along with the food. Better than paying double the price at a hotel breakfast.

Popped in here after what could only be described as a big night. It was packed inside and out. I needed a coffee, some bubbly water and nourishment. This is not a trendy smashed avo with Persian feta type of place! No it is a good old fashioned egg and bacon sandwich type of place with daggy music in the... More

Our travelling family with teenagers have eaten breakfast here for three days in a row. We were happy to find somewhere open on a Sunday too. We opted to stay in a nearby apartment instead of a hotel with buffet breakfast. Our choices were eggs, bacon, omelette and American style breakfast choices. The cafe has outdoor heated tables too. Inside... More

I buy coffee from Alex and the team every morning on my way to work. The coffee is great, is well priced and I enjoy being greeted with a smile everyday.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
