this was a lovely meal. Every course lived up to expectations and description. Good wine list. Nice out of the way location which might be suitable for a private meeting

Wonderful staff and quaint little place for a drink. The nibble menu looked very interesting but we were just thirsty. There were families with kids and people having a business meeting so it caters for all.

Great wine. Great food. Great wine list with plenty of options. Really nice menu. We loved the sevice from our Canadian server. I wrote a much better review but Trip Advisor lost it and I had to write it again.

This restaurant is a real gem. It is tucked away down the laneway but yet it still feels spacious. The menu is small but everything on it was appealing. The wine list is very good. The service is excellent. The main attraction of this restaurant, however, is that it provides the perfect place for a business lunch as it is... More

Went for a birthday lunch with some work colleagues while away from home in Melbourne. We found the place by accident after walking around the area. The menu was creative and inspiring. The taste was even better. Nicely paired wine list and starters. Would highly recommend. GF, DF, and vegetarian options available (and delicious!). Not a place for a quick,... More

Was really looking forward to having dinner and drinks with friends at The Deanery on Saturday night. The reviews looked good and it was also in the Flavours of Melbourne book. When I made the reservation Donelle was lovely on the phone - great customer service etc. We called the restaurant at 10 minutes before we were due to dine... More

I took a friend to dinner here. What a wonderful experience. It was quiet enough for us to be able to talk without shouting, the food was excellent and the service was impeccable. I will return.

The atmosphere of this restaurant was pleasant. Great menu choices and wine list. I had the duck and it was delicious. The only complaint I have was the length of time we waited for our meal. It wasn't that busy. Allow plenty of time.

Very attentive staff, no delays in looking after you which is great. I had the porterhouse which was quite fatty and a bit of a let down because all of the entrees were fantastic. Good friendly atmosphere so definitely recommend and the salmon I heard was lovely..... Jealous!!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
