I was introduced to the Lincoln after a business meeting in Melbourne by colleagues. We had a beer and later in the evening decided to stay on and have meals. Sausage and Mash was almost spot on (being British I'm quite picky about my sausages). Next day another colleague and I decided to go back for lunch. On arrival the... More

Visited on a Friday evening, place was busy but not overflowing. Wanted a Parma, but they offer a more up market menu. Had to settle for a burger. When it arrived it looked like 'pretty food' but I was pleasently surprised that it not only filled me, but tasted bloody great. Chips were not 'fluffy' and lifeless. Good selection of... More

Recently we went for a mid week lunch. Menu has many interesting options and the drinks prices were great. All four 'liked' their meals (all different) but each of us commented that they were all too salty. May just have been an off day with a heavy hand, so we will try again in the coming weeks.

Dropped into the Lincoln at end of conference day with other conference goers. Interesting beer on tap; Good place for a debrief on the day's proceedings.

Visited the Lincoln Hotel for a drink after work. There's a great and different variety of predominantly craft beers on tap. Also ordered some hot chips which were served quickly, thick cut and superb. There's only one TV and it is in a fairly odd location being placed resting on top of the main entrance. So choose another location if... More

Met some friends here after work mid week. If your anywhere near the bar it's very noisy from about 5:30 until 7:00pm. Friendly staff and plenty of craft beers on tap. After a drink we moved into the dining room and ordered dinner. The menu is good, several entree size & main meals to choose from. The service is friendly... More

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
