Looking forward to chocolate heaven but were very underwhelmed. Ordered Chocolate Mess to share - they had run out of cream so we got extra icecream but we could have thrown something tastier together at home. Very low budget dessert.

I am usually a big fan of Max Brenner but the service was absolutely appalling on this particular visit. We had to wait half an hour before one of the employees came out and told us they had lost our order, talk about terrible service. Pick up your game please

In the past i've rated Max Brenners at Melbourne Central 5 stars. The menu is in dire need of a change, as it's very much the same as 3 years ago. Service is extremely slow. My mother received her drink, finished it, had a 15 minute phone conversation before mine was finally bought out. However the most awful thing about... More

This place has lost it's charm and it's panache. Still a great place for a chocolate lick, but it's lost it's atmosphere. If you want some chocolate though it's nice to go to.

Really expensive and overrated. Had the ice cream sandwich, had stuff all ice cream in it. San churro is way better.

With vats of mixing chocolate reminiscent of Willy Wonka himself, Max Brenner is a chocoholics dream! There are a variety of chocolates to purchase as well as hot and cold drinks and many delicious desserts to try. Friendly and prompt service. Yummo!!

So, I love Max Brenner. The chocolate licks are awesome and in winter, the hug mugs with a mocha are yummy. This time, we had various cold drinks and they were delicious too. The 80s milkshake was a hit with my wife. The main reason I wanted to write a review this time is more about the staff. They were... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
