We all had coffee and hot chocolate here. It was all very good. The hot chocolate was the kids favourite, they raved about it.

An absolutely superb meal. Great location. Great service complete with knowledgeable advice on any menu item. General consensus of our group is that we couldn't fault it! The place was full and everyone seems to enjoy the communal dining. These guys have been in Fed Square for ages. Long may they last 👍

The atmosphere and service was very welcoming. You can either sit in communal style at long tables with many people or along the edges sitting side by side looking out, which is what we did. The dinner was great! My meal was a warm meal ( on a cold day) a bowl full of Asian vegetables cooked up with silken... More

Excellent service that kept the food and drinks coming without interrupting our conversation and celebration of our daughter's birthday. This is an excellent place for a big group we had 7 people including champaign, wine and beer it was $55/head. The Buddha Dumplings were delicious, Steamed Noodle Dumplings not to be missed and they had a good range of gluten... More

Been many years since we last dined here. Don't know why, I've passed it a million times on the way to other eateries. It's still fabulous. The communal eating may not be to everyone's liking (I heard it likened to eating dinner on peak hour public transport), but it creates a bustling, Japanese feel. Japanese beer on tap, yummy choices... More

Had a great meal here. Sushi was fresh and there was plenty of choice on the menu. Really nice location as well. The owner came over and personally welcomed me as he knew it was my first visit and that I had come from overseas which was a really nice touch. Highly recommended.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
