Came here on a tour and then went back next day. Wonderful staff who can advise you so you can get the best chocolates in the world!! Also selling fantastic hot/cold chocolate , tea, coffee etc. Great place to visit with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Just as well I don't live in Melbourne or I'd just live on their chocolates!!

We visited this establishment after eating a filling Italian meal so alas I could not partake of all its evil delights. However, I ordered 4 different chocolates and drank a delicious Belgian Hot Chocolate. It was most pleasant.

Thanks for TA tip, we settled into a table upstairs, which was quiet and good for people watching. With a full set of sweet teeth between us, we tackled the degustation dessert plate. Beautiful selection of desserts, comes with a jug of gooey caramel and a hot chocolate sauce to pour over for a "reveal". Washed down with iced coffee... More

Love chocolate? Love Koko Black! Hot chocolate and tasters are heavenly. Generally quite busy which is always a good sign. Staff are efficient and friendly too.

Dropped by late on Friday night for dessert. The shop was busy but staff were quite friendly and helpful. We ordered the Chocolate Spectacular and the Dark Chaos Reveal which were both great (would have like the chocolate dome to melt on the reveal to add to the theater). Great for a drink, dessert or special occasion if you like... More

Worth a visit if you're in town. My favs are the Cassis and Strawberry chocolates. Sometimes can be too crowded with tourists and college students who don't end up buying anything. Their hot chocolate smells divine as well. Love it. Plenty of variety here although not much seating.

As a chocolate lover, I was lured by the aroma of coffee, which I ordered. As I waited, browsing the chocolate products, it was apparent the quality and combinations set this chocolatier apart from the 'ordinary lolly' shop. The product is pricy, if you just see it as confectionary, but when viewed as a hand-made luxurious food indulgence, the outlay... More

The Carlton salon opens late to cater for the evening crowd in the busy Lygon St precinct. The upstairs lounge offers a haven of relaxation, contemplation and rejuvenation, allowing customers to sit down and enjoy the magic of chocolate in their own little nook.We love the specialty desserts menu available exclusively at the Carlton salon, created by head pastry chef, Adam Tippins. The menu changes seasonally, which means there is always something new to discover.

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
