Great atmosphere in central city to enjoy fine food and wine which was quiet enough to be able to discuss business.

Another fabulous night at Il Bacaro. The shared entree of Sydney oysters started a beautiful meal. My friend and I had a medium rare steak on the bone. My wife choose the squid ink tagialtini. All washed down with a Tuscan Sangiovese. The three shared...More

Wow what a great Italian restaurant - can't believe we haven't been before as apparently it's been around for years. Had spaghettini with Moreton bay bugs which was absolutely amazing, my wife had the buffalo agnolotti which was equally as tasty, followed up by the...More

Thumbs up across the board I had heard plenty about this Melbourne institution and it did not disappoint. The spaghettini with bugs was sublime the suckling pig was delightful. The wine list was generous and enabled the wines to pair up easily. Closed the night...More

This is my absolute favourite restaurant that I visit whenever I am back in my home town. Il Bacaro never disappoints. Real Italian food and fine dining without all the pretence. Wonderful, knowledgable staff who genuinely love what they do and know their food and...More

Make your reservations early to avoid disappointment. Early sittings are always taken on a Saturday night. This is a fine dining experience in busy Melbourne. The rest of the world may be in a recession, the other Australian states can have their oil & gas...More

A faultless experience (food, decor, service, atmosphere) . The fresh pasta dishes were truly excellent , packed with flavors, the wine list impeccable and the service very frienly. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant and a staple in Melbourne. Still serves the best calamari I have ever eaten, just a little small so tables are sparse and Id suggest booking in advance

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

I would love to know what the restaurant responds to this. This is terrible service and even if other reviews a brilliant I would never set food in this place out of fear of being treated in the same arrogant manner!

It's a shame you had this experience. Like Johndeer05,I've been to this restaurant more than 10 times and not once experienced a bad meal or service. At the same token, I don't think any one restaurant can please 100% of... More
