The atmosphere and entertainment are only matched by the cuisine. Only place for improvement would be for an expanded sake menu. Otherwise I will definitely go back. Th high light was the very attentive service from the wait staff.

This was my second Japanese Restaurant ever and I was very impressed with the food and the taste, but, we were rushed during the dining. I booked this restaurant as a pre theatre and got there on opening but the service didn't start until at least half an hour after our arrival. We were then rushed through. The plates were... More

Not a very good visit to this restaurant. There was only one table of guests for lunch when we arrived - a family with 2 young children, whose mother thought it might be a calmer experience for us if we were seated a little away from them, but no, she was told in no uncertain terms that they did not... Dear Susan, I would like to sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had at our restaurant. This does not reflect the high standards we hold here at the Ginza Teppanyaki. In your letter, you stated that the you were not allowed to seat a little away from another group. This, of course, is unacceptable, especially when on a off-peak... More

I was rather disappointed with our visit here as we had 730 reservations and though we were seated promptly, it was past 8 o'clock before our chef came out to prepare anything. Though his preparation was entertaining it certainly was not to the standard I've seen elsewhere. The serves were also inconsistent and since we were the last served we... More

We loved this place so much....the food was absolutely delicious but what made it even more special was the way the Chef Phil interacted with us when he cooked. We loved all the tricks he did. The service was spot on and whilst it's a little on the more expensive side, it was well worth it.

We were visiting Melbourne for Hubby's 50th birthday and came across Ginza Teppanyaki Restaurant while walking through and experiencing Melbourne's Chinatown. What A Find! The food was delicious and abundant, our chef was friendly and entertaining, and the service wonderful. The prices were more than reasonable for the quality and the amount of food received, and we would have been... More

The service is good and the food is terrific if somewhat expensive. You will often have to book although I have visited without making a booking first.

We had an entertaining chief, the standard egg challenge was a treat and a ball of laughs. The chief definitely topped the night, staff were friendly and attended to all of our needs. Food was very yummy! Would recommend.

Description
The art of Teppanyaki orginates in Osaka 200 years ago and has become extremely popular with gourmets around the world Teppanyaki, which is Japanese barbeque style seafood, quality fillet of meat, etc - presented unprepared and the chefs skillfully display their expertise on the hot plate in front of you. Your meal is personally prepared to your requested taste.

Ginza Teppanyaki located at 139 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne (China Town) was established in 1995. We continue to be one of the impeccable restaurants in the Melbourne CBD. High qualities of food and chefs' superior skills has attracted many regular customers and overseas tourists. Unlike other teppanyaki restaurants, we use cast iron as grill for cooking. It boosts the iron intake which is essential for maintaining energy levels and helps to strengthen the immune systems. We welcome you to come if you are looking for ice-breaking interaction with our teppanyaki chefs and a dinner that covered with joy and laughter.

Our restaurant can cater for a party up to 200 people. Functions we have catered for including end of financial year and Christmas celebrations, bucks and hen's night, school excursion, anniversary, birthday and many special occasions as requested by our customers.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
