Staying close by so when I saw a line out the door of people waiting to get a table I figured the food must be good. Walking in through the door you are immediately hit by the hubub of people's conversations as they enjoy their meals and the yummy smells of food cooking emanating from the kitchen. The decor is... We had 6 of us and we ordered 3 plates of dumplings which was yum. Then we shared 2 main meals with rice. Yummy and filling. Well worth a look.

Soooo goood. Can't wait to go back. Get the spicy chicken pieces. Very casual. Was a fantastic place to meet up with family and friends. Would highly recommend you book a table though, the line up goes down the street.

Just the place for a fast pre-theatre meal. Go for the dumplings. A good selection, steamed and pan fried, vegetarian and other. No frills but very inexpensive. Good stuff.

Had a lovely selection of dumplings and shallot pancakes at a great price, filled me up, good service and great ambience in the Melbourne CBD. Many eateries here to choose from, but would recommend this one for good food at a good price.

Two friends and I were heading to Her Majesty's for a Matinee at 1.00p.m. so popped into this recommended restaurant at 12.10p.m. Checked the menu and all settled on the Steamed Chicken and Pork dumplings (8pc), Szechuan Beef and the Deep Fried Squid, and a serve of steamed rice. When a waiter arrived to take our order, firstly asked for... More

I ate there last night with my family and found it to be average. The beef and black bean & spring rolls were delicious, but that's where it stops. Nothing that was served was inedible, I just expected more dining in a popular restaurant located in China town. After eating there and receiving the bill, I understood why it was... More

Don't come here if you want to have a nice, intimate dinner. Don't come here if you want authentic Chinese food. Also don't come here if you want friendly service. I come here if I want a cheap meal and usually if I am in the mood to bring my own bottle of wine! Everyone should come here at least... More

Went there for dinner on Chinese New Year's day - should have known bad quality food because there were no Chinese patrons in the restaurant! :) I digress - tofu dish was lukewarm with clumps in the sauce, deep fried salt and pepper fish was stale and obviously done with bad oil, soupy dumplings were small had no soup in... Cannot rave about this place enough. Everything we ordered was delicious. 15 pan fired pork and vegie dumplings for $7.80. and they are to die for. This place gets busy so be prepared to wait, if there is a line - but they have a smooth operation with three different levels . It's BYO which is great, but they also... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
