Our accommodation in Auckland was within close walking distance of this venue and recommended by our hotel. We had a drink before dinner. Good atmosphere and a busy local bar scene. Dinner was average and the noise in the venue was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak. My lamb shank was still grisly which was a shame and... More

I read about The Bluestone Room on trip advisor and thought it sounded okay. It was close to where we were staying and we needed an early night so thought we'd try it. It's a pub with average pub food. The bartender thought he was funny, he wasn't, but Tuesday is comedy night so maybe he was just thinking he'd... More

Hi there! We like "quirky"... also unique, rustic and historical. Can I ask why what about the Cajun Chicken Burger was "average pub food"? and you're right, the hand cut chips are pretty good... just sayin. You are also correct that Melbourne Cup had been on and there were still people watching the races after the main card so it's... More

The good - the selection of beers is first class, chilled pints & very pfriendly service with a smile. The bad - the food, it tasted like everything was thrown into one fryer & cooked together in old oil. An impromptu blind taste test between our group couldn't tell the difference between the fish & the chicken. The ugly -... More

Good bar in city centre with good variety of beers. Food is good as well, service is slow and bar staff seems to dream all night.

We spotted the Bluestone Room while making our way back uphill to our hotel, so called inform beer each. The staff were friendly and the venue welcoming so we stayed for dinner. My husband had the Steak, Egg and Chips served on a bed of creamy spinach, and he loved the spinach. I had Poulet Farci which I enjoyed. We... More

We're glad your impromptu visit left a good impression which made you want to come back. It's just a shame we couldn't fit you in again. We do apologise but it does occasionally happen and we hope we will see you again. More

Its such a nice place for hang out with friends and they have a special brazilian snack. The beers are not that expensive for NZ standards. And its a really good place to go during the winter.

I love the Bluestone room bar and often stay at the Citylife Hotel on Business ducking across the road for a pint after work. A Recent Sales Conference we had in Auckland we also dined here. Has very good beer and chilled glasses. However last night I encountered an awfully slow and rude barman. Glasses were not filled to the... More

Another of these places you'll never find without tripadvisor, and maybe not the loveliest walk to get there. Beer and food was alright, nothing too special - a solid bar if you're not looking for something too fancy. Prices were also very reasonable.

Team lunch; service good, drinks ok enjoyed the American Pale Ale by Monteith's (it's a Monteith's pub). But the food was so disappointing; burger looked good but beef patty dry, meatballs were deep fried and dry and the addition of mass produced thousand island dressing in a plastic tub didn't help, stroganoff sandwich was browned dry tasteless mince on bread...
