I have been coming to Clooney for years and have enjoyed many excellent meals, however tonights was the first truly great meal. We did the 10 course degustation with wine match. The food was perfectly paired, exquisitely presented and wonderfully fresh and exciting. We have recently dined at The Grove and Merediths, both were very good, however this was next... More

I have for 10 years loved this restaurant and talked about the amazing food and went tonight to experience the new chef and new menu. In fairness the dishes between those you order are far superior to the ones you select from the menu. Had the Cod for starter and Pork Belly for main. Both courses so bland its difficult... More

I ate here when it first opened, hated it so much that I haven't been back. Tempted by the new chef and menu, we went on Sunday night when it offered an a la carte menu (other nights have a 14 course tasting menu for $180). The menu seemed to be a French/Japanese amalgam. You could select 2 courses for... More

6 of us enjoyed a sublime meal last night. The waiter was well informed as to what the menu comprised, and shared that knowledge with us in a very engaging way. The food itself has to be savoured to believe it. Outstanding & world class.

This is a restaurant that is well worth the visit. the food is wonderful as was most of the service. What pulled it down for me was the greeter (and I use this term in it's broadest sense). If you want to read about the better part of the evening, skip this paragraph! The number of diners started as 6... More

This restaurant is extremely thorough in following through on reservations, and we can see why--on Sunday and Monday nights, diners must choose from a limited menu of an "entree" (which Americans know as a starter), a main and a dessert. What you don't realize is that you are going to also receive four separate amuse bouche plus a pre-dessert. Presentation... More

We went out with friends and I was impressed. The food is Japanese influenced for sure . The presentation of the food was just as exciting as the food itself each dish was a picture. Even though there were 14 courses each was light and fresh so you certainly looked forward to each new dish. The wait staff were informative... More

With Jacob, the new chef from Noma, this must now rate as one of the best restaurants of the world. I have been in all the top London and Auckland restaurants, but this one beats them all. The degustation menu is a work of artistic and taste excellence. I cannot wait to visit again.

The interior is dramatic to say the least but the food certainly lives up to the theatrics. Easily the best meal we've had in NZ and photos simply don't do their food justice. The kitchen's attention to detail is second to none and flavour combinations are well balanced but unexpected.

From the moment we arrived to when a taxi was ordered to take us home, the quality of friendly service and good food made for an enjoyable evening. We went mid week and I don't think the degustation meal was available (not 100% sure) but the a la carte menu was very interesting and full of little surprises from the... More

Description
Opened in 2006 by owner Tony Stewart, award-winning Clooney offers a unique dining experience in the heart of Auckland’s central city. Located in a once-derelict warehouse, redesigned to create an atmosphere of contemporary opulence, Clooney’s design aesthetic is matched only by its fearlessly inventive cuisine.

Chef Jacob Kear has rewritten the narrative for New Zealand food with a progressive menu that gives familiar local ingredients a distinctive, international twist. The accent is on impeccably sourced ingredients, clean and precise flavours, and dishes that evolve to reflect the changing seasons.

Chef Jacob Kear draws on an international career in some of the world’s most respected kitchens to give direction to a thought provoking dining experience.

Clooney’s menu reflects his passion for foraging, his commitment to locally sourced ingredients and his mastery of both classic and contemporary techniques. Kear’s ambitious tasting menu of over thirteen courses will take guests on a culinary tour of New Zealand.

From the lush rainforests of the North to the expansive coastal wilderness of Fiordland, the striking geography of New Zealand’s regions is brought to life on the plate.

Clooney’s wine list is curated by sommelier's Jarod Santana and Grant Dingwall with wines chosen to perfectly complement our distinctive menu. The list spans over 300 labels, striking a perfect balance between the Old and New Worlds while showcasing the very best of New Zealand.

Our cocktail and sake programs, under the direction of Jarod and bar manager Yusuke Sakabe, are designed to be enjoyed with food or simply to be enjoyed.
