Had a great lunch at The Cobar, couldn't do evening meal as we had a 2 week old baby with us. A lovely family get together as we had just arrived from UK to visit family. Earthquake added a bit of "spice"! Will be back on our next visit.

Visited the Cobar after recommendations from friends. I visited the Cobar with 2 friends visiting NZ on holiday. The decor and ambience of the Cobar was good. The food was well cooked and declious and well priced. The service was friendly and relaxed. Overall I enjoyed the dining experience and would definitely return.

Great atmosphere (even though the weather was not the best) and very pleasant layout of tables, great with split level. Plenty of large windows to take in the views. Food was ideal and promptly served by delightful staff. Very happy experience. Paying a premium price for premium food is not a problem at this restaurant.

After a walk along the Eastbourne Coast we decided to grab lunch at Days Bay. We went for Cobar as the menu looked great. We sat down and it took quite a long time before someone came to see us. Naturally we thought "oh no, its going to be ages before we get our food". But no, the Garage Project... More

We were a big group on a cold southerly lunchtime. But the fire was going, coats were whisked away, and we sat down for our set lunch. The choices were great for a set menu. Most of us ordered fish for the main, which might have caused problems, but the waiting staff kept bringing it out! The service was pretty... More

We go to the Cobar for occasional special celebrations. The atmosphere is always very pleasant and it has great views across the harbor to Wellington city. The menu is small but seems to change with the season, the quality of the ingredients and the cooking is always excellent. The prices can be a little higher than elsewhere and some of... More

Been here many times before and have always been impressed. This time we were all disappointed however. The place was dead at lunchtime on a Saturday which could've been a sign. Our party ordered rissoto, pasta, the steak and burger. The rissoto was served on the wrong type of plate and looked like prison slop, the pasta sauce was watery... More

After wanting to go to Cobar for a long time we finally ventured out there and it truly did not disappoint. The food was amazing (Beef and Lamb dishes) and was nice to see they had wine matches for every meal. The atmosphere was great with a nice fire burning and light music. Only real blemish was the fact it... More

We enjoyed a fantastic meal choosing the fish cake and crab starters before the main course of Eastbourne Village Meats black pudding and pigs head with Parkvale Mushrooms and smoked yogurt. The portion was generous and very tasty. The lavender bavarois with white chocolate mousse with plum sorbet was a Devine. Our waitress was very friendly and thoughtful. The restaurant... More

Hannah and Ryan and their staff at the Cobar consistently offer a varied menu to suit all palates. They cater for allergies/food intolerance by substituting ingredients to still produce a delicious meal. Service is impeccable and always with a smile. Lovely atmosphere and gorgeous views from the deck and from many of the tables inside
