We were here for three nights, the second of which saw the big earthquake happen. Kevin and Anita were very attentive to our well being and to make sure we were ok. It is a big strong old building and whilst it shook at look, it felt a safe place to be. I hope that Blenheim and surrounds quickly recover.... More

We spent the weekend at hotel d'Urville - last minute booking for a couples weekend away. We stayed in the Raja Room which is Indian themed - comfortable bed and nice features. Only problem we had really was it is in the town so noise from outside (late nigh bar leavers) was a bit annoying but too be expected when... More

Thank you very much for the great review of our restaurant and staff! We are sorry that the noise from the street annoyed you but as you wrote this is to be expected in the centre of a town. We are working on the issue of the towel rail and the bathroom entry - so thank you for your kind... More

I stayed here two nights and it was comfortable and the room I had was spacious and well appointed. The hotel itself has only 12 rooms so best to book in advance! The building is a listed historic building and its former use is evident from the heavy doors upstairs and the general layout. The restaurant is clearly high-end but... More

From the descriptions of this hotel, I expected that the rooms would be charming. My room was inconvenient without any charm. In order to get into the bathroom, I had to step up and duck my head at the same time. The bathroom had a fiberglass enclosed shower and there was barely room for one person. Third, my room faced... We are very sorry that we did not live up to your expectations. All our rooms are very different and have their own charming points. Unfortunately, we could not answer to your request that night to change you to another room which would have been more to your liking - we were fully booked that night. Kind regards, General Manager More

We are locals who have been in the area for 13 years so have dined out at local restaurants many times. Recently we dined at Hotel D'Urville having not eaten here for a while and without a doubt this was the best dinner we have ever had!! From the entree to the dessert it was sublime. The entrees we chose... More

We found the menu lacked range and style options. The portions were over-priced and on the small side. The decision to charge extra for vegetables was a mistake. The ladies were not asked if they would like another glass of wine and the gents had their bottled placed sans top on the table - no pouring for them. The bill... More

I hope for this review not to be seen as negative in anyway as our experience at this lovely old hotel was nothing but positive. However, as a few helpful comments perhaps, the only area this hotel lacks in is housekeeping. I'm not talking about the linen or cleanliness but the small things..our toilet was leaking from the base over... More

Between four of us we had the baked clams, delicious, scallops, unbelievably good, very generous portions. Rib eye steak, the chef is French so pick your cooking preference wisely! John Dory, veal and venison. There were four clear plates at the end of the meal! The food is rich, beautifully presented and a real treat. The manager and waitress were... More

A pleasant enough visit but the hotel is looking in need of some attention. Carpeting is worn and in some places water stained. The room I was in did not air properly and there was no ventilation in the bathroom. Some nice touches like the port for guests. Staff were not entirely professional when we mentioned going out to another... More
