Had dinner here on anzac day. The food was ok but not special. The service from one of the owners although reasonably sound lacked any warmth and could be described as mechanical.

There are not many fine dining restaurants in Christchurch so a restaurant like St Germain is most welcome. It comfortably meets fine dining expectations, primarily with its food. There is an argument that the food is all that matters but more about that later. The menu on our visit featured a number of French classics - Duck à l'orange and... More

It's great to have a bit of French flair in Christchurch, made all the more authentic with the friendly French staff. Our biggest problem was making a choice between so many mouth watering options, and then knowing we will have to return to try more! The presentation was outstanding and the staff so helpful when it came to making recommendations... More

The food we had was great, beautifully presented, however there is only a small amount of vegetarian options in the menu. The service was good. Environment was busy and quite loud at times with larger groups present.

Bonsoir Grant02014, Thank you very much for taking the time to review St germain. It seems you have enjoyed your time with us but we feel a little bit disappointed to get an average rating since you've mentioned that the food was great and beautifully presented and the service was good. I believed that the issue there is that you've... More

Love this restaurant, the food is super. The best french onion soup done properly, then a fabulous steak and then creme brulee and a very nice wine. In its new restaurant, architecturally designed, and with views to the skyline from most tables, i enjoyed a senior birthday, and felt spoilt there. Wine is slightly expensive, but who cares when you're... More

Apart from arriving to a bland and underwhelming welcome our host warmed up as the night went on. The service was efficient and informative. The food was amazing! It was the best meal I have had in CHCH since moving back home from London. I had the Lamb it was tasty and perfectly cooked. The only thing I would note... More

We tried the surprise 5 courses and 5 wine match. Absolutely delicious, didn't miss a beat. Part of the fun not having to decide and not knowing what you'd get. Very reasonably priced, great service, nice place.

We had been to this restaurant before and decided to go to celebrate our son's birthday. There were four of us, and we chose the 5 course degustation meal, so had no idea of what we were to be served. It was however one of the most beautiful meals we have ever eaten. The service was second to none, and... More

Party of six - all meals were excellent and all served close together - hate it when someone has to wait ages after everyone else to get their meal. Our meats were beautifully cooked. Waiter was really helpful and funny - service was great

I like this restaurant and their food, The menu doesn't look to have been changed, however it is still really lovely. The bread to start was nice, the mains were great, and the desert was simply amazing! The service was not on the level of fine dining, rather on the cafe level. The waitress didn't know the menu well, didn't... More
