Impressed by the good reviews, I went here with my partner for dinner while we were in Chch. The vegetarian menu was very disappointing. Just 3 or 4 options. I asked If I could get some tofu in the meal for extra and I was told that they don't have tofu. I then thought I would settle for some plain... More

I was expecting some delicious, healthy japanese food. Instead we were presented with a rough laminated copy of the menu, with a lot of european type food. i.e curry and chicken. Not what I wanted from a japanese restuarant. The inside looks quiet run down. Service was not that great.

Had a bowl of Miso Ramen. Overall the flavour was a bit flat, noodles a little off. It's not what I'd expect of a place with this reputation. The flavour just wasn't there, and the meat felt a little too discount as well. The space is not that cozy as well, as there seem to be some quite noisy ventilation... More

The takeaway reviews for this place are raving, but what we experienced was something we could make at home. The vegetarian stirfry tasted just like frozen veggies, white rice and soy sauce, at a high price as well. Disappointed, we will not be going back.

Not much to eat in the downtown area and was craving something "ethnic" and found Samurai Bowl while walking around. You can get a bowl of delicious noodle-y goodness here, with all the right fixin's in Japanese ramen. Lots of side dishes to share as well - edamame, karaage (fried chicken) and gyoza (dumplings). Price was reasonable. A surprising but... More

Four of us were seeking a different dining experience, when one of the group said the is a Japanese restaurant in Wairakei Road, at the airport end. I have never been to Japan, but the meals we ordered and shared were excellent. This is a casual restaurant suitable for families. Friendly, fast, efficient service.

Cute, busy wee restaurant. Reminded us of small casual restaurants in Japan! We had Tonkotsu and Miso ramen, and gyoza. Both were pretty good, nothing amazing but certainly didn't mind eating them. But we were trying to find a replacement to the ramen we miss from Japan and these didn't quite hit the spot. Quite a varied menu and reasonably... More
