Dinner for 7 on Saturday night, Kneading Ruby is a restaurant that provides great food, good service . From the moment you enter the gentleman at the front desk is friendly and gives a good vibe. We had the pepperoni pizza yummy, has a great crust, garlic bread, polenta chips, octopus salad, pork chop, snapper fillet and of course the gnocchi all flavoursome and we loved it all. Kneading ruby never disappoints.

Very Good Food & Service but poor customer service by owner

Family dinner for 50th birthday and chose $40 set menu option for 7 adults. Food, service and atmosphere were all very good. Enjoyed the variety and everything was tasty and fresh. Unfortunately late into the service after ordering our choice of 2 pizzas (which were part of the $40 set menu), the waiter informed us that he could only allow us to have 1 pizza as they gave us 2 servings of the pork cutlet by mistake and we should only have been served 1. Pretty strange to think 7 adults would have to share one cutlet? If in fact it really was a mistake it was theirs not ours so why even bring it up. Bad business and poor form which spoiled the night a little.

Great place!!

We have been to kneading Ruby several times for dinner during the weekend and also ordered take away more than once. Every time the service is impeccable and the food amazing. We have ordered a range of different things: entrees, mains, pizza, desserts and cocktails and each times they deliver beautiful and tasty food and drinks beyond our expectations Remember to book your table if you are going on the weekend, but if you decide to go last minute if they offer to seat you at the bar, take the chance and use the occasion to try some of their original cocktails! They are really good! Or order their food Take away and enjoy it at home!! It is delicious! Absolutely recommend!!

Partner returned home with this very undersized would be an understatement portion size of gnocchi for $26. Very unimpressed. This is not the first miniature portion I have received from kneading ruby, though it will be the last. Photo kindly attached.

Outstanding Italian cuisine

We dined as a group of 7 and enjoyed the $40 fixed menu (there is a $50 menu with more seafood if preferred). Each course was amazing from the opening plate of garlic bread through to the Pizza at the end before a choice of desserts were available at an additional charge. The atmosphere and decor was brilliant with a great selection of cocktails as well as beers and wines. The serving staff were friendly, courteous and informative. They were brilliant. Totally recommend, we will be back

Great night out in Wollongong

Our second visit to Kneading Ruby’s and again the service and meals were excellent. This is a great venue for a special family dinner or a night out with friends and the menu has some great options. Would recommend the polenta chips and the beef cheeks, there are also multiple gluten free options. This venue has a great atmosphere, informed and attentive staff and is one of the best restaurants in Wollongong; will be sure to return.

Ben met us at the front door and was most welcoming. Waiter Will was outstanding and he remembered me from the booking and something we spoke about on that call. Piping Hot Garlic Bread superb with the melted butter poured on it in front of you still as good as ever. Entre of Tuna was light, tasty and different. Main course of Market fish [ snapper ] was very good No Desert menu on the blackboard as no room I was told. Shame as I like to make a decision on my whole meal based on what is on the menu for all 3 courses. Why? I rarely have 3 courses hence 1 &2 , 1 & 3 or 2 &3 .

Not quite up to expectations

It has so much potential to be a great restaurant, but a few small issues lets it down. The positives are the staff are friendly, the restaurant looks amazing inside and the starters were very good and the food was prompt. What let it down is there are no menus, there's just one big blackboard at the back of the restaurant, and it's really inconvenient. In the end we just had to look at the menu on our phone. How hard is it to just have menus like normal restaurants? Like I said previously, the starters were good, but the main courses were very disappointing, the pizza was average at best, very little taste and the pizza base tasted like it was made from breadsticks and the ingredients were very bland. Definitely not worth the $24+ they charge. And finally they really pressure you into tipping the staff, they give you the bill with a pen to fill out the tip at the bottom, if you don't fill that out, the staff then point out the option to tip on the machine when paying by card. Like, I'm all for tipping for exceptional service, but I like it to be on my accord. It just made things very uncomfortable when it came to paying and then leaving, and it was so unnecessary. All-in-all, we just left feeling the whole experience was 'OK', there is definitely a lot of improvement that needs to happen for us to visit again in the future.

Never going again, Service is Abysmal Clearly Inexperienced.

Nothing came out as it was ordered, drinks were incorrect and slow. Staff acted confused and seemed very inexperienced. For the price I expected a lot more. Servings were lacking in size... 3 pizzas for 15 people is skimp. As someone who has a lot of experience in hospitality, overall, I was very disappointed and would not risk going again.

A Delight

My friends, visiting from Sydney and the Central Coast, and I ate at Kneading Ruby the other night. It was excellent. The atmosphere was buzzy without being deafening; the staff were courteous and attentive; the food was marvellous; even the physical table we were at was attractive; the cost, including wine and cocktails, was very reasonable. It was a most enjoyable evening. I approached the staff when we were leaving so I could tell the management how pleased I had been with the experience. It was suggested that I write a review online, which I have now done.

having a quality meal

My South African Visitor and I went there 6pm for the meal in the fuirst sitting toime of 6pm. Polenta chips a bit soft and too large for mine. Hot Garlic Bread with the butter poured over the small love made it lovely.. Market fish A1- done in palm leaves Gnnochi was superb Lachie was our host and what a superb job he did.

Love Italian food

My daughter searched this place up from the web. It was easy to find and offered great parking close to venue. Funky looking space, great dim light sets the scene immediately upon arrival. Tested the cocktails to start and was a little disappointed with the first. Second didn’t have the garnish and was overflowing the glass. Not a biggy 😌. We ordered the polenta chips with Gorgonzola first. They are light fluffy and a taste sensation!! Wow 🤩 The dude looking after us then hurried us to order the next course. We quickly set upon ordering more food and we felt a little pressure to order more cocktails. We didn’t and went about devouring the scrumptious food before us. The dude/waiter was way too attentive and we felt that we really didn’t get a chance to unwind and enjoy the space. We will be back though with more people to experience this great place and hopefully the waiter will feel less the need to be in our face.

Even through covid lockdowns the quality of the food here is next to none. The pork cotoletta is to die for as are the polenta chips. Love this place. The waitstaff and chefs from the other well known Italian place by the water have been seen eating here!

Best dinner out I'd had in a while

I really enjoyed Kneading Ruby. The place has a relaxed, urban vibe, with comfortable seating. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and really showed us she cared about giving us the best experience possible. We had a pizza which was delicious, with sides that complimented it perfectly. All our food and drinks came quickly, and we were also offered dessert which we took advantage of. The desserts we ordered were also tasty and flavourful. It is rare that I eat out and enjoy everything that I order, but this was the case with Kneading Ruby. Will definitely come again when next in the area.

Great food

From the moment we walked in the door until we walked out 2 hours later we could not fault the customer service we received from the staff. The food was amaising. From the polenta chips all the way through the pork chop, gnocchi and pizza. We will be back.
