A couple of little misses, but very good overall.

The good: Prosciutto with grilled peaches and buffalo mozzarella, spaghetti marinara and the speedy, efficient, personable service. The mediocre: White chocolate parfait with rhubarb pieces and rhubarb coulies = there was no coulies /sauce and the rhubarb pieces were tiny and had not been sweetened a little with sugar, the white chocolate looked and tasted like a small round piece of bland cheesecake. The tiramisu was good, but we’ve had better. The biscotti part was soaked in coffee, yes, but we could not really taste the alcohol and the coffee variety they use is bitter. The tartufo chocolate dessert my daughter had, on the other hand was outstanding. When my latte came out, it was very weak due to too much milk, but they were extremely accomodating and the Italian manager who served us, made the replacement one himself and it was great. That is the sign of a truly good place, when they take the feedback on board and fix things on the spot. Next time we’re down this way, we will definitely be back. We had one of their wood fired pizzas last time and we know they are spectacularly authentic. Great atmosphere and experience overall.

Amazing food

we were a party of 20 celebrating a 40th birthday. The food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was fully booked but service was of the highest standard and food and drinks arrived quickly by the friendlystaff. I would highly recommend.

The best of regional NSW right here on the beach!

Northbeach Pavilion never disappoints. In the worst of years (with COVID) this is a welcome friend. The best Italian comfort seafood, other dishes and wood fired pizza on the beach. The wine list (the finest choices from Italy and across the world) and cocktails are simply superb. Live and love in regional NSW as Pavilion embraces you by the sea. This place is the biggest hit. Just ring as they always try to accommodate and make last minute magic happen (we are super disorganised at times). #gratitude

Prefect view with very ordinary food

This place has probably the best location and view in Australia, the staff are great and the service was fine. The food however is just awful. Well it was the day we visited. my chicken and sweet potato dish was about as boring and tasteless as cardboard and my parteners Pizza was the same. Maybe, the menu sounds pretty good on face value but we were both gobsmacked at the lack of quality in the food, certainly at this price point i'd expect a fair bit better. The Bruschetta was good i guess, thats something.

Disappointed, Won’t be back

Disappointed. Took my parents to Northbeach Pavilion for lunch as they don’t live here. I wanted to treat them as they love Seafood. The staff member we had been served by couldn’t crack a smile even if you paid her. She obviously didn’t want to be there or something. She barely waited our table, a couple times I had to actually get up and ask for a couple drinks. (Which is fine, but it kept happening. I work in management in Hospitality and I would be very unimpressed with my staff if they were serving people like this) It was quiet as well, if it was busy I would have totally understood. We ordered 2 Seafood Platters and a bowl of chips and a bowl of Salad. Now I have been here in the past and the service and food was great, this time around, It was bad. The Seafood wasn’t anything special for how much I paid. The total bill was almost $200. Which is no issue, but when the food was mediocre, I was angry. I should have just taken my parents to LeVendi and bought fish and chips and sat in the harbour. At least if you get your seafood and it’s average it’s only $20. Anyway, I will not be back to Northbeach, my experience was poor. Which is a shame as I love good food, and every time in the past I was spend around $200. Their loss.

Birthday disappointment

Excitedly booked online, checked the birthday box and agreed to the $50 holding fee. Arrived a little early & was shown to the worst table inside. Table was set for four, even though we were a party of two as per our booking. We couldn’t sit opposite each other as one chair was blocked by a pole, the other a large cupboard. Perhaps okay if there were two small children dining with us. The menu looked promising & we ordered a pizza & the seafood plate for one. Pizza was good, seafood plate not so much. Bland & mostly calamari. Perhaps better as a share plate. Service was generally okay & when there was an issue due to foreign objects in the seafood plate, the issue was resolved & the meal removed from the bill. The bill also showed an overcharge for the Prosecco (charged for Italian not Australian Prosecco) but I let that go & considered it the tip. We left feeling disappointed, especially as they didn’t even wish me a happy birthday.

We acknowledge and apologise that there was some absorbant paper mixed in with your paranza seafood plate which as you stated we acknowledged and took off the bill after to make another which you declined. Our paranza seafood plate (prawns, calamari, John Dory) and Calamari are very popular as they are flash fried in semolina which is how is it prepared in our part of southern Italy. We regret that you found this style of preparation bland. We apologise if you felt you had the worst table… it is a table that has access to lovely beach views and yes there is a pole and a sideboard. It is a table that is occupied most of the time. We do appreciate your feedback and your time over the phone. We are glad you were able to use your gift voucher and we hope to see you another time. Have a lovely week!

Amateurish and inefficient

6 of us went for lunch last Sunday and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to take our order despite there being plenty of staff on the floor. 3 entrees of oysters and one of olives were delivered at the same time as our main meals as there seems to be some confusion as to what constitutes an entree or a main??? The mains were eaten by the three that didn’t order entrees. After some considerable period of time the other mains were delivered but only 2 of them! The last of the mains was delivered at about the same time as the remainder had finished eating. The staff training is abysmal and the ability to find someone to take a drinks order was also pathetic. They have an over inflated view of the food and described what is a basic - but very underwhelming - fish and chips in very grandiose terms. It was basically what appears frozen fish and frozen chips with an insipid green “salad” lacking flavour. We previously came here regularly under the former owners and the food was always outstanding now we won’t be back because the new management are unable or unwilling to commit to proper staff training. If you can’t do hospitality in a professional and competent manner get out of the industry please.

We were fortunate to secure a table at short notice. The food and service was excellent. My 13 year old daughter raves about the rib eye steak and the pizza and pasta was 100% authentic - we are so thankful.

Very rude service, asked to leave before we finished eating

We went there for a Sunday lunch and ordered drinks and our meals, we received our starters in normal time but it took a while for our mains to come out, at the time we didnt mind as we were enjoying the view and chatting away. We got our mains and finished them and ordered dessert, just after we received them we were given the bill and asked to leave as they had another booking, they could see we hadnt finished eating. We just left the food, paid the bill and left. If we got our food without waiting so long we could have finished it.

The best Italian restaurant in NSW!

Have been to North Beach Pavillion a few times and it’s never disappointing ! The food it’s always very fresh, Staff very efficient and service really spot on. The management is very attentive and often greets customers at their table. The pizza’s and the gnocchi Alberto are a must! This is THE place if you are looking for traditional Italian cuisine, traditional Italian wines and a fresh breeze from the Ocean. I wish we had a North Beach Pavillion in Sydney near me…. However, it’s worth the travel and a good get away from the big smoke

not friendly to over 50 year old market

We were there to enjoy a few drinks and share platters. Location lovely. Bar people unfriendly - sense they only wanted hipsters there. Asked for fresh juice and advised the juicer had been cleaned and didn’t want to use it at 3pm on a Friday afternoon. They were open to after 10pm. Champagne was from the end of a bottle and topped up with a new bottle - when I suggested it was flat (no bubbles) the lady bartender grunted at me and gave me a fresh glass. Food nothing special just normal bar food. View and vibe was nice but we won’t rush to go back because of the attitude of bar staff

A trip to Italy in the Gong - The best Italian restaurant in Sydney!

The restaurant is a true refection of the traditional Italian cuisine. The food is fresh, all prepared in the premises with an spectacular service and views. The restaurant is actually on the beach which allows you to enjoy ocean breeze, simplicity as well sophistication delivered with true flavors. The pizzas are exceptional and the pastas are a must!

Great Venue for a Sunday Brunch

From the moment we entered the Pavilion the staff made us feel welcome. The service was just right, not too invasive and not forgotten, and the young man that attended to us was polite and well presented. The prices are very affordable. The food is delicious. The beverages not so, which is why my rating is very good and not excellent. My hot chocolate was not hot and my mango passionfruit smoothie had not taste at all and was very watery. I will return to the Pavilion for the food and hopefully my feedback about the drinks will see my rating increase to excellent. Parking is a pain in Wollongong down around north beach, which is a council issue. The effort to park is well rewarded with a great menu and excellent food.

Basically Italian with seafood. We decided on fish and chips! Staff lovely! Fish was lovely ! Chips? If you like chips that taste like frozen chips that have been oven baked, and don't have any flavour and a bit hard, great. But not for us. Better fish and chips from your local take away. And 1/3 the price.. We didnt go back

Tasteless and expensive

My partner ordered a ragout pasta and it came out looking like brown mince meat tossed through a pasta. It along with my marinara was tasteless and over priced. The waitress however did ask why it was not eaten and did not charge us. Service and ambience was good, food terrible.

Hi Lyn and Greg Thanks for your feedback and apologise that you had a less than satisfactory experience with us. We do recall your table. We noticed that Greg had not touched his rigatoni so we inquired and Greg advised that the plate was too oily. We offered to make another one or another dish however he said he was full from the pizza he ate prior. Lyn, your scoglio had already been cleared and you said nothing of your dish, we regret we did not ask you also. Both these dishes are very popular and well received. The ragout you describe is premium beef with onion and herbs cooked for 6hrs and served with hand made rigatoni. The scoglio dish is packed with seafood which is cooked in San Marzano sauce. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your meals. We are pleased that you recognised our efforts to remediate your experience and do recall you thanked us at the end and were also chatting with us about your experiences in Argentina. Thanks again for sharing your experience. We look forward to welcoming you back. Have a good and peaceful week! 🙏🏻
