We have been long time fans of Da Orlando for both eat-in and take away meals. The food is sensational. Pizzas have the right balance of toppings and the base is the best pizza base around. The pastas are also great with great sauces.

Amazing gnocchi, and near-perfect pizza (I am not actually sure what might have made it any better).
Delivered warm and fresh, in good time, and by a friendly driver.
I was not sure initially about having to download the app in order to pay by card, but it was actually incredibly easy to use and personalise our meals.

Visited Wollongong with my wife and 2 girls. My girls are fussy eaters so needed a place that would meet their needs. Da Orlando’s was perfect. High quality food at a reasonable price. Their pizza dough is nice and light and the pizzas are cooked to perfection, with high quality ingredients, as is their pasta (I had the penne boscaiola). Add to that good efficient service dome with a smile, and the fact it is clear they take their COVID-19 protocols seriously. If you’re looking for good Italian for the family at a sensible price and with great service you just can’t go past this place. It was so good we went back 2 nights in a row. Ps try the Nutella diavoletti for desert.....they’re the bomb!

This review will look out of place but I can only give an account of what took place. We had ordered the wood fired scampi. We were presented with long shells of what was far unrecognisable from the version we know of from home. Although we had asked & just told it was 6 pieces, we were not told it would be in shells. This maybe the norm but not what we know. The person in our party realised this what not what was expected & having tried a little, found the fish hard to remove from the shell & it was a bit tough. Basically we called over the waiter & having hardly touched the dish, asked for it to be changed as it wasn’t what was expected & was costing $28. The waiter took the plate & said he would change it. But then the chef came to our table to demand what was wrong with the dish? We told him it wasn’t what was expected & wasn’t wanted. He kept demanding & throwing his hands around saying “ what am I supposed to do with it now?” He had a demanding, argumentative aggressive attitude & made the whole experience upsetting & embarrassing. I have never experienced such interrogation for wanting to change a dish. The chef & owner should never have come to front of house. His English was challenged & he had no idea how to deal with a customer. Ali the restaurant manager saved the day but the meal was spoilt & so was our night. It seams this place does very good pizzas & maybe we should have had that. The beramisu was lovely. The lasagna was good & the meatballs ok. A busy place. Nice waiters but don’t have a problem or you will feel like a naughty child in front of the chef/owner & that should NEVER HAPPEN.

Good morning Rosieht... Now its my version time.....
So u ordered the woodfire scampi (one of the dish we sell most and cost 28 dollar because that Scampi goes for goes for 55 dollar per Kilo whole sale price). U tried and send it backdating that was over cooked. When I saw the dish coming back in the kitchen and after noticing that nothing was wrong with it ( not over cooked at all like u said) I came to the table and I asked what was wrong with the dish...
U said that was over cooked and WASN'T WHAT U EXPECTED and till now ITS FINE...
Why its NOT FINE and UNACCETABLE was the way u talked to myself and my staff....
VERY AGGRESSIVE AND SUPER RUDE..
U said to me " Just take back the Scampi bring me a Lasagna and take off the bill the Scampi or we will leave (like a THREAT) So your attitude crossed the line big time.... ( customers don't have the right to be disrespectful to our staff as they work very hard to maintain a high level of customer service)
The only reason why I made my waiters swap the dish and didn't charge for it, was out of respect for the other lady seating at your table, because my parents taught me to be polite and respectful to anyone and not arrogant and abusive .
Second point if u go to an Italian restaurant and the chef/owner comes to the table to rectify the situation its unfortunate that he had strong italian accent...but u should appreciate that He come to the your table to sort out the situation.
Third point the fact u went home to write a 600 words essay on the number 2 restaurant on Trip advisor in Wollongong its very upsetting .
I worked in Hospitality for 20 years and I know I shouldn't argue with customers but your ATTITUDE and your ARROGANCE crossed the line. I MUST DEFEND MYSELF AND MY BUSINESS from customers like u.
I hope my hospitality friends will never experienced what myself and my staff did with u.

We went it to order takeaway. It was so busy. Not a covid safe place. Everyone was squished in, staff were squeezing between tables and people, so we were very glad we were only getting takeaway.
True, they had several hand sanitisers availiable inside and outside but everyone was bunched together and it was so crazy loud we had to shout our order in order to be heard.
Ordered the bbq pizza and Hawaiian. The bbq pizza was delicious but the Hawaiian failed miserably. With about 10 bite sized pieces of not fresh pineapple and not much ham, we basically were only eating the pizza base. So it was disappointing to have one that was amazing and one that terrible. Hence an average marking.
There is no way I would be dining in here. I would suggest home delivery or order over the phone before pick up.
The 2 staff we interacted with upon ordering were lovely and polite but you could tell they were stressed and busy.

I finally get to Da Orlando after so many friends of mine recommended and has they said we had a wonderful experience
The staff was super friendly even if was very busy, the gnocchi Gorgonzola were super tasty and u can tell are home made. My partner had the wood fire Diablo’s pizza which was very spicy but not too much. Everything was good and the atmosphere very casual and friendly.
At the end they offer us limoncello on the house which is a typical Italian lemon digestive
We were super happy and we will bring our friends also
Good job Da Orlando !!!

Nah. Decided to give this a go after reading so many positive reviews. I was concerned that many 5* reviews were written by people who had posted only one review. Anyway, thought we’d give it a shot. The girl who served us was delightful, friendly and efficient-no complaints in relation to service. The food however was less than average, woeful actually. I noticed a lot of young people in the restaurant. I have no doubt they would like it as it is quite reasonably priced and seems the menu contains many pizzas. I can’t comment on the pizza as we didn’t order. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for well cooked authentic Italian food.

I dined here recently with family, what an amazing experience. The pizza was cooked to perfection and service was unparalleled, a commendation to the youthfulness of both the pizzeria chefs and wait staff. Amazing talent all throughout the restaurant. Most creative and delicious desserts of any Italian restaurant in the Illawarra. Will definitely come back here next time 💯🤩🤤🥰

Only place in town that I know has whole meal pizza base that tastes awesome...they don’t leave you bloated.
The pasta Frutti di Mare is a very tasty dish, I choose this dish in many other restaurants but Orlando’s is the best by far!! Service is unquestionable, staff always make you feel welcome. Orlando should be proud! His restaurant is ALWAYS busy full of happy customers enjoying their meals. It’s great for large groups, families or just for two.
Check it out, but be sure to book!đź’Şđź‘Ť

When I booked there was only the 5.30 or 8.30pm timeslot available. I chose the 8.30 session. I received a call at 8pm that our table was ready, so my family and I headed down to the restaurant. Our welcome was warm. Then when we ordered the food, not everything was available...ok. Then our dining experience deteriorated from there. The waitress who brought our drinks didn't use a tray but brought the beer under her arm and carried the wine glass from the rim not the stem! Then just after we began eating our main, we were asked if we wanted dessert!! We felt very uncomfortable as we knew the staff were waiting around for us to finish (even though one manager said this was not the case). We ordered a tiramisu. It arrived still FROZEN, totally rushed and unacceptable. I mentioned our experience when we paid to the man at the register. He didn't care, he made no sign of an apology. We could not get out of there fast enough. Don't go to the late session...actually go somewhere else!

Best Italian outside of Sydney hands down! We always time our trip to pit stop at Da Orlando for a feast on our way to the South Coast. Time after time, we are served delicious seasonal food and Nonna in the kitchen always comes out for a chat. The pizza dough they make with its extended proving time ensures perfect pizzas every time. The gnocchi is also a must try item - so light and fresh! Highly recommend adding this to your itinerary if you're passing through Wollongong

Staying for the week in Wollongong for work my wife and I and another couple plus our 2 miniature dachshunds found Da Orlando on Google and booked an early evening front courtyard table at this busy very popular restaurant. WHAT A FIND!
We wish we had this restaurant at home in Newcastle.
We shared 4 entrees of
Arancini
Zucchini Flowers
Olives Ascolane
Woodfire Scampi
All delicious.
Then we shared pizzas of Capricciosa and Diavolo again all very good Roman style Italian pizza - brilliant.
Peroni beers, glasses of Shiraz & Pinot Noir helped enjoy a fabulous meal.
And the service by the young staff was friendly and very professional, obviously well trained by management.
And to cap off the evening, the proprietor, young handsome Italian, Orlando, came out for a nice chat and shouted us all a limoncello each.
One of the best experiences we have all had. Highly recommended.

Our favourite Italian restaurant did not disappoint. The best Italian in Wollongong, the food is to die for. The kids loved the pizza, the gnocchi is the best I’ve ever had and the pasta was amazing. You can tell everything is made from scratch and using the best ingredients. We were surprised with nuttela donuts to celebrate hubby turning 40, these were my 4 year olds favourite. Orlando and team thank you for an unforgettable dinner. Until next time 🍝🍷👌🏻

Serves Authentic Italian food. The pizza range is the best that I've tried so far. Be it entrees, main course or the desserts, everything's mouthwatering and delicious. The linguine Boscaiolla and Pizza Capricciossa are my personal favourites and the the restaurant has got an excellent ambiance and an outdoor seating is being provided.
