Dining at the black cow really is so much more than a meal but an experience. From the moment we walked in we were so extremely well looked after by the lovely staff. All the food is incredible - best steak I've ever had, and dessert to die for. Yes it is expensive, but you truly get what you pay... More

I came here for dinner as a solo traveler. The service was excellent and the good was great. Unfortunately someone decided to bring a baby (less than a year old) to this restaurant. Said baby cried the whole time. Probably as it should've been in bed. I wish restaurant owners would take some responsibility in this.

Was recommended by the tour company Tasmania.com and I wanted to have a great Tassie steak after over indulging in great Tassie seafood. Had to book for a Tuesday night and only time we could get was 8:15 however the place was packed and we were served promptly. The Carpacio and my wife's squid were superb and the steaks perfect.... Mainly focused on beef in various forms, a good offering of seafood was also available. Great local wine and beer list. Absolutely exceptional services. We went twice on consecutive nights. Not cheap but good value.

It's nice to go to a steakhouse that gets it right! Between the three of us, all of our steaks were cooked perfectly, tender and tasty. The sides were also delicious and there's a great wine list. What more could you ask for?

Had dinner here last night, nice food, had oysters to start and a steak with a side for main, my wife had the fish, we had a couple of drinks and you will need to expect to pay around $90 to $100 each if you go down the same path. Could not fit any thing else in. Waiters have excellent... More

I had high hopes for this restaurant but left feeling a little flat. The starter was amazing and the dessert as well but the steak (at $120) was just average. Service was hit and miss and for the price ($360 for 1 starter, 1 huge steak for 2 people, 2 sides, 1 bottle of wine, 1 dessert, 1 $9 bottle... More

The Black Cow Bistro has all bases loaded after 9 years of hard work.It has all that a great Bistro offers-a warm elegant ambience, great food,an extensive wine list and excellent service. On arrival we were cordially greeted, seated and offered still or sparkling water together with menus and the wine list. The table setting was true French Bistro style - large starched... More

Best steak we have had in a long time, juicy and really good flavour. Worth the 45 mins wait for the steak. Make sure you make a booking as it is a very popular restaurant, saw a couple of people left due to no booking.

You know a restaurant is good when it's full on a Monday night. This has to be one of the best restaurants I've eaten at, and I've eaten at restaurants all over the world.
