We were in town five nights and ate in once and got takeaway once. My gauge of good pizza is the Margherita, it has none of the frippery that has become the hallmark of the 'gourmet pizza', a few simple ingredients, and nowhere for the...More

An awesome pizzeria in a long hall with shared tables. Chose the prawn and chorizo pizza, gnocchi and a caprese salad. All extremely tasty and well priced considering the quality of ingredients. If we come back to ballarat this is where dinner will be!

We (2 adults and 2 kids) arrived on a particularly busy night for dinner without a booking!! We should have known better! The restaurant was full. The staff were sympathetic and in particular their Host - Tara - really tried to accomodate us for dinner....More

Delicious pizzas. Fantastic venue. Got a little loud inside once the crowd rolled in, but that's my only gripe. The excellent service and great, affordable food made up for it. Highly recommended.

Our grandfather Frank was a well-known Blacksmith in the Ballarat region, and at the heart of a Blacksmith's shop is a fire they call the Forge. With a combination of the fire, great skill and plenty of hard work, great things are created. Take a look at our wood fire oven and you'll know why we are "The Forge". Established in 2010 by brothers Chris and Tim Matthews, The Forge Pizzeria creates delicious woodfired pizzas made with fresh local produce and high quality deli ingredients. We pride ourselves on pizza perfection, passion and a fun laid-back atmosphere. There is a fully serviced 200 seat restaurant in Armstrong Street, Central Ballarat, which complements the 20 seat take-away store in Sturt Street, Alfredton. We also now have two rolling mobile pizza ovens which operate at various events and private functions. Once your pizza is ordered, its action a plenty. Using our fresh healthy dough recipe, the stretcher starts stretching the base, great viewing in itself. The makers add the right amount of ingredients, which have all been freshly prepared on our premises, into the woodfire oven and then the magic happens. Fresh, healthy and woodfired.
