After passing Nin's Bin I thought the only right thing to do would be to try a local cray. The lobster was nicely cooked and tasted pretty good. Also a Nice, informal location to sit at the picnic table overlooking the water. It's a bit lost on me though - give me a kilo of tiger prawns any day -... More

The crayfish is so fresh! Although it is a little pricey, but it is really good. My boyfriend and I shared one crayfish and it is enough if you take a moderate size.

If travelling from Kaikoura, Nin's Bin is just a few miles on the right. You can have a whitebait sandwich (not like UK whitebait ... more like tiny white eels) or buy cooked lobster to take away. It is served by a delightful young lady who is friendly and helpful. If you fancy something to eat or take away for... More

We all know Kaikoura is famous for its crayfish, but the locals recommended this place particularly. You can see it on the way to Ohau Seal Lookout Point, it's right beside the road with a large sign. It's no fancy restaurant, just a campervan like space with a kitchen and a friendly cook. If you walk in and the cook... More

We read the reviews- so of course had to stop - upon arrival out of Mussels and Chips so option was crayfish or whitebait sandwich (more like a whitebait omelet on bread) whitebait tasted more like egg than whitebait - crayfish was fresh - I had mine cold they were $80.00 for crayfish good for one person - if they... Not very place on the way to Kaikoura. A good spot to eat (expensive) lobster or mussels. We wanted to try the whitebaid so ordered these. This turned out to be a whitebaid omelet. Maybe this is always the way to eat them but we didn't expect to get a omelet on two slices of bread. We also had mussels.... More

By far the freshest most perfectly cooked crayfish we have ever eaten. We also had a bowl of mussels that were equally delicious. Yes it's a caravan on the side of the road, where they just serve crayfish and mussels. So if you go with that expectation you will not be disappointed. Yes the staff are relaxed, but they know... We stopped at Nins Bin to buy crayfish but really couldn't justify the enormous price that the fetch now. We opted for a large bowl of green lipped mussels cooked on site. I went back to over van to butter some bread and the steaming hot bowl of mussels with lemon was delivered to the door. Top Marks for brilliant... More

On the day we drove from Christchurch to Picton, we already knew we must have a meal at Nin's Bin. They are famous for their fresh seafood, especially crayfish and mussel. We arrived nearly 5pm. I saw their caravan parked by the street alone, but there were no crowd. I was a little worried. When we found out that they... More

Nins Bin was first estabilished in November 1977 as a roadside caravan selling fresh local crayfish. Still to this day it offers just that, right next to the beach for an ulitmate New Zealand experience.Only a 20minute drive north of the Kaikoura Township, it is a perfect stop off point to either dine in or take a crayfish away for your enjoyment later on!
