Don't be deterred by the name, this is a great little place for a chilled out meal. Best restaurant service we've found in Hervey Bay, very friendly and attentive AND they love kids. The menu is large and there is something for everyone. Good honest food, nothing too fancy and reasonable prices. We'll be back.

We were in Hervey Bay for the weekend on St.Patricks Day and were supposed to be having dinner next door at Hoolihans however that was a madhouse when we arrived and we opted not to eat there and ended up at The Black Dog Cafe. As it is a cafe our expectations were not really that high and we were... More

This was our first visit to the Black Dog Cafe and it was a positive experience. We went on a Thursday night and it wasn't busy so no need to book. (This may be different during holiday times ). There are a lot of choices on the menu and plenty of gluten free options. The cafe is licensed and has... More

Booked a table as it turned out no need to. Hardly anyone there which in hindsight was understandable. The cheesy garlic bread was quite nice. Entree of mini spring rolls was straight out of the packet from the freezer. My partners Barrumndi was ok on a bed of potato scallops was ok except as the meal progresses the scallops turn... More

We had a wonderful 3 Course meal consisting of Garlic Bread, mini spring rolls Seafood Platter and Plum Pudding and custard, with complimentary drink, everything was cooked to perfection, hot and very fresh, the staff were all very young but very friendly and polite, the owner was also very pleasant and greeted us on arrival. The café was extremely busy... More

Only stopped by for a couple of cups of coffee, but staff were pleasant and the coffee was welcome and quite good. Next time we are near by, we might stop by for something to eat too.

We had a dinner here in New Year's Eve. Wasn't really expecting much, place doesn't look like anything special but the food was super delicious! I had vege noodles, it was really good and the portion was huge. Prices also very affordable. They close early though, people were a bit rushed to finish their meals.
