Pub that bills itself as something a cut above, but which delivers only on part of that promise. Lacklustre service delivered by quite junior staff. Ok lamb and beef. Most egregious disappointment was the tempura prawn entree, priced at a hefty $26, which consisted of priecisely THREE medium prawns served with an small green salad. When I brought to staff's... We have dined at this gastro pub on a number of occasions & always found the food and service of a consistent quality. the other evening I had the Balmain bug tails in a Asian sauce with a hit of chilli (To die for) My Partner chose the Atlantic salmon which he felt was a little underdone. All on all... More

Always enjoy dining at this gastro pub Service & the quality of the food is always consistent. On our last visit I had the Balmain bug tails in a light Asian style sauce with a nice kick of chilli. 10 out of 10 on this dish. My partner went with the Atlantic salmon which he felt was a little underdone.... More

I consider myself a food fan and my goal in life is to try lots of top restaurants... Well here in the middle of a quiet little town, sits a restaurant with a menu to rival any of the big city restaurants. Amuse Bouche to start ( which had my husband wondering what it was!) I have had it on... More

221 Restaurant and Bar is an award winning restaurant, "Best Food in a Country Pub, or Similar, for 2014". Not sure whether that was the exact name of the award but certainly that was the sentiment. I had an open steak sandwich two nights running, and the meat was tender, the dish well presented, the service in the pub (the... More

What a pleasant surprise to find such delicious food in a pub! Service was very good too. Very generous portion. The 3 course dinner menu is good value for money.

It is a restaurant in a pub - but do not panic - the food is fresh, good and creatively presented. The service was friendly and cheerful if occasionally distracted. The salmon dish was excellent as were the oysters.

My husband and I had dinner in the resturant last night and it was fabulous. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. Thanks to John and all the staff for providing such a fantastic evening. We would most definately recommend dining here and can wait to have dinner here again
