Found this place due to tripadvisor recommendations otherwise we'd never have found it hidden up a back street. It's small, cramped even, with wall to wall photos of customers, and very Spanish. Two free tapas with every drink (even a small beer). They boast 155 different recipes and we had several....lamb rib/potato stew, soup, bacon, quails eggs, croquettes, salads, toasty... More

When you order a beer, they serve you a "pre-tapa" which for me was a small bowl of "caldo" (broth), and with my second beer a piece of bread with some tomato and vegetable topping. In most Spanish restaurants, that would be the full tapa, but at la Bodeguilla de Basilio, that's just the starter. Then I got two plates... More

Loved this place! Great atmosphere. Great food. Interesting decor. Cheap. Would definitely go back again!

I totally recommend this restaurant in Cuenca. You ask for some drinks and food is included. I was with some friends and it's perfect!

Typical tourist "passing trade" restaurant. In two months travelling SPAIN this is the worst place we have visited. Decor is brilliant, but the waiter was bad tempered and unhelpful. €7,50 for a tapas and it was not good. Neither was the white wine. Try the tapas bars around Calle San Francisco like "La Paca" for better value and quality food.... More

We entered a really nice restaurant. We sat down and got presented with a menu which for us was in English. So with a cold beer in one hand and a menu in the other it was time to see if the reviews were right. I would like to say we had a great lunch. The food was so fresh... More

It's a good idea to pay a visit and take at least a beer. You pay a bit more and get a lot of food for the cost of a "caña". All around this places it's a lovely environment and enough quite to middle aged people and even young people.

I travelled the Andalusia & Castilla La Mancha region and also discovered Cuenca. We went there due to a recommendation from a local. It was truly truly authentic tapas! The place itself is small and cosy! Owner is super friendly and the tapas... Superb! I would definitely recommend this place.

We had dinner in this very nice and typical restaurant and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and kindness of the owner and staff. The meal was nicely cooked and the ingredients were of very good quality, as well as the wine. On top of this, we were explained a few interesting things about the origin of the recipes and this... Legendary tapas - you buy a small beer or wine and they give you the most extravagant tapas I have ever seen (and I have lived in Spain for ten years!) The official address is calle Fray Luis de Leon but all the locals know it as the calle del Agua, it's tucked away in a little street next to... More
