We had walked this place a dozen times in the day before we found that Easter Sunday meant that most places were closed. Having found it open to serve the local clients we were very happy with hospitality, service and food. the menu is basic and there were a few things unavailable (because of Easter), but everyting that we did... We had our dining place over the road picked out but unfortunately (or fortunately) it wasn't open so we came to Las Castanuelas not knowing anything about it. Turned out to be a good move. Two of us shared three excellent dishes, a lettuce and tuna salad, tuna with peppers and the oxtail stew. Also had a very nice bottle... More

Second visit to this unpretentious, welcoming restaurant. Great quality food, simple but delicious and served amiably and when you want it, totally freshly cooked. The carillada (pigs cheek) was the best we've had, so tender, like a tasty meat cloud! Salmonete were fresh and perfect and a lovely fresh salad. Really good selection of Ronda wines to complement with friendly,... More

Wandering around Ronda and in the process getting lost looking for a place that is not a tourist trap, we found this place at 10pm and oh boy were we so surprised by the food. There were not tourists, just a bunch of Ronda locals eating and having fun. The seafood is so fresh and the meat dishes are so... More

Now that we've eaten here twice, it's "our" restaurant, close to "our" parking lot near the Merced St. Theresa church, just on the edge of Ronda's cliffside park. Very unassuming place, but filled with locals. They know where to go. My "brucheta solomillo" (pork filet mignon kebab) was delicious, ever so tender and cooked to perfection. This place is a... Might have caught it on an off night but then again the owner might just always be dour and think you don't notice when speaking to locals and referencing 'ingles' English). We had a very average albondigas, cold white wine and a couple of beers. Worth heading to if nothing else is opened.
