My first review on TripAdvisor and it is sad to report a bad experience straight off, but it is hard to write anything good about Don Javier where my husband & I stopped for lunch choosing menu del dia. The service was very slow and grumpy, and the food awful. From hard rubbery bread rolls, to wine vinegar liberally applied... More

They get you with a good atmosphere right as you leave the bull ring, but keep walking. There are plenty more restaurants close. The food was just not good.

Arrived in Ronda at around 8pm and we decided to go for dinner by the bridge. Looked at the 'menu del dia' for €11 and we thought it was a reasonable price with a good range of options. I ordered the penne pasta and the sauce looked and tasted like it came out of a jar of the local Mercadona.... More

I have lived in Spain for 9 years and without a doubt this was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten here. We went with friends for lunch on a visit to Ronda after seeing the restaurant was busy, and our friends had eaten here before. Oh how I wished I had read the reviews on Tripadvisor! We... More

Our worst experience in 18 years of living in Spain. We have visited Ronda many times and Don Javier Hotel / Restaurant is definitely a place to avoid. The food was cold, vegetables and potatoes out of a tin and the service!! Well the staff didn't care that we were disappointed. We don't like to complain, so initially we said... More

First evening in Ronda, and hoping for a nice meal. Ok, Ronda is a notable tourist trap, but the service here was notably indifferent. I ordered fish soup. There was about one tbsp of fish+seafood. Next to come was an entrecote steak. Tough as an old boot, and only warm. I left half of it. With it came a small... More

Walked around the bridge and had late dinner. Not so many guests were in the restaurants. We ordered tourist set menu (14-15 euros) and bottle of white wine. Just near to the bull ring and the bridge. As it is hotel restaurant interior and tables were nice and clean. We ordered soup, vegetable, oxtail and salmon. Soup??? vegetable not fresh... More

I guess if you stick to the safer options on the menu it might be better. We had spag bol and Spanish omelette for lunch and it was ok. Expensive, (for Spanish standards) but ok

We had the daymenu. The food was not tasty. Very simple meal. Potatoes not good, fish had a strange smell. Wine was ok but nut cheap. Service was friendly.
