My family and I visited the pub for a light lunch early on a Sunday. We hadn't booked, but as we were there early the pub was empty and there was a couple of tables that were unreserved and we were happy to sit outside, but despite this we were still made to feel like we weren't welcome or we... Good food good company party games and a Disco at The G and D the night before St George's Day. Roast Beef and yorkshire puds with more than your five a day selection of vegetables were the highlights of the main course - all ready on time for about 60 people is some going... We came across The George and Dragon during a recent bike ride. We went in for a quick bite of lunch to find the pub quite rammed with people with a lovely bustling atmosphere. We ordered some sandwiches - they were just right. Fresh whole meal bread with generous fillings and I nice side salad. All eaten beside a lovely... More

I visited this quaint county pub for lunch with my husband. Very attractive olde world surroundings, and obviously very popular. We managed to find a table in the bar area, there is also a larger dining room. Friendly welcome, a bit of a wait for food, but they were busy. I had Thai Green chicken curry with rice, and my husband had... More

Little hidden gem after a stroll around Marbury Hall, which we are extremely glad we found. I am vegan and gluten intolerant, manager personally saw that all my needs were catered for. My partner had fish and chips....was described to me a whale on a plate and thoroughly enjoyed. My mum in law had a the trio meats roast dinner,... More

Went for an anniversary lunch, hadn't been for over 40 years and wasn't sure whether it had been "done over". What a relief although it has been completely refurbished it still had the old world charm. The food was good and certainly value for money and the service was quick and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.... More

Dear Larraine, How nice to hear that you appreciated our sympathetic restoration of this wonderful old Pub. I think we've all been to 'done up' Pubs that have been ruined by unimaginative so called 'designers', who probably never drink in Pubs anyway. I was determined NOT to spoil the authentic atmosphere of this Ancient Watering Hole and it's great to... More

I brought my partner & in-laws here for Sunday lunch, the food & service was impeccable! I have been to many similar pubs/ hotels in Cheshire for Sunday lunch but this place is by far in a league of its own. I will be back (regular) & recommend this lovely characteristic hotel to all of my family & friends. Special... More

Nice restaurant at the back of the pub for food. Greeted by friendly manager/landlady, and went to our table. Ordered food and have to say it was delicious- fish and chips really tasty, beautiful stroganoff and the fish special was really well done. I just felt the rest of the waiting staff, one gentleman in particular, were rude and everything... More

We love this place especially for Sunday lunch. However, I did not order Sunday lunch (3 out of 4 of us did). My meal arrived and it was something I had not ordered ; I was asked what was wrong with the meal and why wouldn't I have it ; simply because it was NOT what I'd ordered. Eventually the... More
