The location, ambience, pub and surroundings were lovely, unfortunately it was the good I was not overly impressed with. We want for a family meal on a Sunday, a few of us had Brie for starters, we all found it very greasy and cooked in what I would describe as a fish batter which held the fat more, I am... More

This was an excellent pub which really deserves to be at the very least in the round-up section of the book, and maybe even as a main entry. Off the beaten track slightly - a good way from the centre of Charing, but this adds to its appeal. Well positioned for some lovely walks overlooking the weald of Kent from... More

Stopped at the Bowl Inn for a spot of lunch with friends on a beautiful sunny day after taking a drive to the area and what a wonderful place it was, A lovely welcome from Rachel, great beer and well cooked hearty food - so much we were fit to burst - smashing value in great surroundings - and they... I've only been once. Had the lamb shoulder which was bits of grey chewy meat floating in a greasy gravy along with slices of potato described as dauphinoise but nothing like. My friend said it looked "rank" and it was. I've uploade a photo. His cajun chicken tasted good but the spicyness caused problems later. Took a while for the... More

Four of us turned up early for pre-booked Sunday lunch and we couldn't have been made more welcome. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and don't give the impression they are very busy even when they are! There's time to chat, the food is tasty, varied and well cooked and a beautiful fire was warm and welcoming. We all thoroughly... More

The place has had a few improvements since I was here last and is very smart. A well stocked bar with a good choice of real ales as well as a good selection of wines. The meal we had was really good. Nothing fancy, but very well presented, tasty and nicely garnished. I think we will be visiting again before... More

First visit to this pub for a birthday lunch, which will cetainly not be our last. There is a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere that you feel as soon as you walk through the door. Food excellent value and very, very tasty. Staff welcoming and attentive, without being too intrusive. It is great to find a pub that has retained... More

On a visit to the dreaded Ashford outlet.....decided to call in to the Bowl Inn for some retail anaesthetic before hitting the shops. There was a choice of four real ales and I could easily stayed longer and tried them all, the two we had were great as was the sandwich, just right before exercising the plastic. Wish I knew... We took a couple of friends out to lunch and arrived to find the local shoot had booked a table of about 20 along with all the other guests eating. We thought it would be difficult to get served and to have something to eat, but we're very well looked after and the food was incredible.
