We had dined at this restaurant on a previous visit to Prague & as it's situated right in the city centre it was very easy to find again. The food is excellent, traditional & fresh. The servings are large so the men are happy! It was very busy which is not surprising. The prices are reasonable & the staff are... More

The place is really beautiful, old Czeck beer hall with wonderful decor in an amazing palace. We chose it for our last dinner because it was early and the place is open all day (we had a flight to catch). Food and beer were good, hearty traditional food, big portions. The service left a little to be desired, one of... More

We went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch as we wanted to experience a traditional Czech meal. It was average at best. Staff we no where to be seen at times. We asked the waiter for drinks which he had forgotten about until we asked for them again. Service was very slow. Food was edible but not enjoyable. Expensive for... More

Place looks nice downstairs in beautiful Municipal Hall, but that's basically all there is to it. The smell of duck is so strong inside we wanted to walk out! I wish we had cause it wasn't a good experience at all! Bread came cold and hard, then we had to wait 30mn for our dishes (I noticed it's a common... More

We wanted to try a traditional Czech meal, and while the ads for Plenska might look a little "tourist trap" like from the outside, we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is beautiful inside and the food was delicious. The waiters clearly cater to an international crowd and had spoke great English.

We had a Prague Christmas lunch here (Dec. 24) and it was delicious and felt traditional and festive. This restaurant is very nice and historic feeling, but it was not overpriced and it didn't feel like it was trying to gauge tourists or be gimmicky. Highly recommend the duck. When you enter the Municipal House, go through the main doors... More

The municipal house is absolutely amazing and worth a visit and the Plzenska is one of a few dining options inside the building (on lower floor). The decor is great but I would agree with other reviewers, stop for a coffee and cake just to enjoy the historic atmosphere and maybe dine somewhere else. None of three of us finished... More

The food is perfectly fine, but the real experience is the traditional environment. Have dinner there before a show upstairs, and then head to the very cool Art Deco American Bar adjoining.

Great traditional Czech restaurant with accordion player to while away the the evening. A drink in the American bar before hand is a must. All of this whilst surrounded by Mucha inspired Art Nouveau decor. A real step back in time to Bohemian halcyon days.

The original restaurant in the Municipal House opened in 1920's - done in Secession architecture, including murals, furnishings and fixtures. Restored in the early 90's to its original beauty, it is a well preserved jewel, specializing in Czech national dishes, serving Czech Pilsen beer & Czech specialties. International dishes are available. The food is delicious (we had a duck and... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
