Our hotel concierge recommended we eat at the original "Blue Duckling" restaurant, despite being some distance away on the other side of the river, saying the original was the best. We saved this experience for our last evening and were looking forward to it. However, we left feeling somewhat 'had over' and part of some bizarre tourist experience that failed... More

We were looking for a nice good traditional restorant that gave us the authentic atmosphere of CZ dinner. The food was good and reflect the cz cuisine. The service was excellent and the price was fair

We managed to have a table for 2 without any reservations. They have several areas in the restaurant, and we got a nice place on the first floor. Quiet and warm atmosphere. Just perfect for dates or mother/daughter outing. Service was great as well as the dishes. (Had the roast duck with Plum sauce and the Veal) House wine matches... More

We were sent to this restaurant (also know as the Blue Duck) by our hotel. Wandering through the narrow lanes of Mala Strana, you will find this wonderful Czech restaurant. It is two stories and the upstairs rooms are small and cozy. Ours included the piano player with its soft melodies providing a romantic backdrop. We started with foie gras... More

Great authentic dinner that doesn't break the bank. Went 2 times. Ask for a table up front near the piano player. Great wines for <$30. Foie Gras is a must. Go with the Duck or Deer. Unique, quaint decor.

Can't imagine what could possibly be better. Food was very very good, service was just incredible. Waiters speak 4 languages, make jokes and are perfectly polite. Live music is not loud and very nice. If I'm going to be in Prague again - will definitely come here!

An old style Czech restaurant with very nice duck and game dishes. Good wine selection. Very friendly staff, not formal. Definitely a recommendation!

Old style restaurant with great service and piano music (upstairs). Ate three course menu, enjoyed especially entrees and dessert. Most we liked the interior which is full of details and nice, old furniture. Would recommend.

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
