Food can be a bit of a hit and miss in Prague I find, but this place falls into a really good category. Star of the show for me was maple smoked duck breast with honey shallots - perfect combination of flavours and an amazing...start to a dining experience. Tasting menu at 690 Czk was a good deal and worth considering if wanting to familiarise oneself with decent version of a local cuisine. Decor is very cosy and warm. Service was spectacular: friendly, efficient and accommodating. I would visit again.More

Yes , you can easily overdo it Prague with eating duck. Duck is served seemingly everywhere around town. Our favorite places to enjoy the duck specialties are the two restaurants named Blue Duckling and Blue Duckling ll. For years , since the nineties , we...made sure we had at least one good duck dinner in Prague. Back then, my husband and I always dined in their sister restaurant at the Mala Strana location, while we were staying in hotels nearby. We stayed in Mandarin Oriental hotel , for part of this trip, so we had our first duck dinner at the restaurant located in Nebovidska street - the " original" Blue Duckling . When we moved to Hotel Smetana in Old Town, towards the end of our trip, we decided to try U Modre Kachnicky ll . For the convenient location , since the restaurant is in walking distance to hotel Smetana. It was about time we sampled the duck there. We were not disappointed ! We had reservations, the restaurant was packed when we arrived. We were warmly greeted and escorted upstairs. We had a nice private table for two, although a bit secluded. I would have preferred downstairs seating, but the restaurant was full. I was worried, that we might have less attentive service upstairs, but quite the opposite was true. The servers were friendly and we were very well taken care off. In an unhurried, classy way! The duck dishes were cooked to perfection, we also shared pate to start. Beer to drink. I don't remember the dessert , I am sure it was delicious. We eat sweets all day long when in Prague, not just after dinner dessert. As we were leaving , we run into the restaurant manager downstairs, who chatted and joked around with us for few minutes, even though the restaurant was crazy busy. I jotted down three names, the two guys that served us and the manager, who made are evening special! Jan, Antonin and Rudolph, thank you for a wonderful, fun evening ! Till next time , Dekuji a NashledanouMore

This restaurant was recommended by a Slovakian friend and it was delightful! My husband loves venison (which I refuse to cook), and he was over the moon with the choice at this restaurant. Service was attentive and informative, wines and beers were great.

We were looking for a restaurant where we could taste the local Czech cuisine: this restaurant was the perfect choice! We were pleasantly surprised that we could choose a tasting menu: that way we could taste 7 local dishes. Portions were generous, the service was...very welcoming and friendly. We recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves Czech meat specialties!More

It's hard not to eat well in Prague but this is the best restaurant we've eaten in on three trips to Prague! Outstanding food, charming atmosphere. We were introduced to it by a Japanese couple who have been stationed in Prague for business. Our host...does a lot of business entertaining and this was his choice.More

We had been to this restaurant before and had an absolutely delightful evening. When we knew we’d be spending New Years Eve in Prague we couldn’t go past spending another evening here. We booked online before leaving Australia and were able to inform the restaurant...of one persons allergies. Booking online was a wise move as during the course of the night we witnessed many people having to be turned away. This is a very popular restaurant and with good reason. On arrival we were greeted warmly by staff and shown to a table reasonably close to the downstairs piano. On hearing we were from Australia we were treated to some popular Australian songs, the words of which were known by the fabulous pianist. We were also treated to New Orleans Jazz, French, Chinese and Czech music throughout the evening which reflected the diversity of its patrons. While the restaurant was full you don’t feel crowded as there are many nooks and crannies so you can’t see the whole room from your table. Groups are catered for upstairs. Now to the meal, all 7 courses with accompanying drinks. The waiters were most attentive and knowledgeable about their food. When bringing the first course the waiter asked which one of us had the allergy and alternate dishes to the set menu were given. We were also helped to choose an appropriate Czech wine. The restaurant is known for its duck and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious. We had an absolutely delightful evening, great food, attentive staff and a wonderful ambience. If we are ever lucky to visit Prague again, we will definitely have dinner at u modre kachnicky 11. Thank you so much for an unforgettable evening.More

We enjoyed dinner at this delicious restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone in Prague. The service was friendly and prompt, but not overly aggressive. They had an excellent pianist in the restaurant that enjoyed making the patrons smile. The food was DELICIOUS and...we enjoyed a few duck specialties to include the staple roasted duck with sides, and a duck salad, duck sampling hor d'oeuvres, and drinks. This is not a cheap restaurant, but worth the splurge.More

I lived in Prague for two years a decade ago and this restaurant was a favourite for special dinners. I was so pleased to find its high standards had not been eroded. The welcome, food, service, wine and even the piano misic were all just...right. What a lovely evening we had! You do have to like and eat meat though there are a few dishes for the lost vegetarian. Duck is obviously a favourite and quite rightly so. It is to die for!More
