Excellent atmosphere near old town square. Very attentive waiters and great place for a nice couples dinner. Roast duck is their specialty dish and did not disappoint. The wild boar was also an excellent choice. Try the venison pate as an appetizer. Located on a...small pedestrian only passage way. Reservation would be recommended.More

If you want to spend a memorable night in Prague, this is the place to go. Outstanding service, delicious food, and heart-warming piano music. I highly recommend the variety appetizer (superb!) and grilled duck breast over the roasted duck. My wife, who is not a...duck lover, enjoyed the boar. Finally, the Grand Manier crepe and the chocolate cake were delicious finales to a wonderful evening.More

We went to this restaurant on our last night in Prague, and it was definitely our best meal. We shared the venison pate to start - very tasty followed by 2 duck dishes - one with walnut stuffing and one with pears ginger and shallot...mash potatoes both excellent. We completed our meal with apple strudel and flamed pancake grand mariner which completed the evening perfectly. The piano in the background was an added bonus.More

After a wonderful dinner at the restaurant on Mala Strana on the first day of our holiday, we decided to conclude our visit to Prague with a dinner at the same establishment with four friends. Unfortunately, it was unavailable for a party of six, but...luckily this one on Staré Mesto accommodated us. Two gentlemen from our party ordered a Tasting Menu with wine pairing. The rest of the guests had chosen different dishes from the menu and all had desserts. We also chose Czech wines, white to start, which followed by the red. All food and wine were fabulous! Everyone was happy with their meal. Pianist was so sweet and played a lot of great music. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful! Shame I didn’t get his name. We bonded instantly and had a great time and shared a giggle too. His service was superb. I didn’t want to leave! All his recommendations were spot on, especially the little drink he brought out to accompany my Strudel. I wish I’d taken a picture of the bottle to remember what that was. To the waiter: If you ever see this review and remember me. It was your first day back at work after holiday. We were a group of six, speaking English and Russian. I am the one with dreadlocks and pink makeup. I just wanted to thank you once again for being absolutely amazing and for your impeccable service. I had a wonderful time! Благодарю вас за великолепный вечер и за безупречно проведенную работу!More

I wanted to try the duck in Prague, it was out last night of the trip. I read all the great reviews, so I decided to splurge. The Duck was just OK, a little dry, not much flavor. My wife had the pork, which was...much better. I wish the splurge meal would have been something more memorable.More

Went for evening meal. Shared the pate starter, both had duck mains and strudel for dessert. Food was average, not bad by any means but wouldn’t rave about it or likely remember it longer term. The Czech wine was more of a highlight, really would...recommend. Very warm in the restaurant, was pleased to have the seat by the door, though this did mean we were gawped at by everyone walking past. Probably wouldn’t return.More

We called ahead for a reservation as this restaurant came highly recommended - and it did not disappoint. We had a very nice table for eight on the second floor by the window. I had a slow roasted duck which was AMAZING. Everyone in our...party loved their meals. Our service was at a nice pace and we enjoyed a wonderful evening. I would pass along a high recommendation for those looking for great dining in Prague.More

We actually ate here twice--once for lunch and then again for dinner 2 nights later. (eating somewhere twice within 2 days is our highest level of compliment and not something we frequently do!). We initially came here on the advice of our Hotel Concierge. Wow....What an experience. So good that we returned 2 nights later for our last meal in Prague. Initially we were told they were fully committed the 2nd visit and there were no reservations but we took a chance and just showed up and we were able to sit down immediately. The service here was impeccable. I cannot call the names of the 2 waiters nor anyone else here but the service could not be better. The food was spectacular. Owing to the name of the restaurant, we of course had the duck and I recommend it. The tasting menu is the way to go--order and enjoy! The stars were the Foie Gras and the duck breast. Well prepared Foie Gras is always good and this is no exception but the sauce is what stands out on the dish. Try it. The Duck breast was so moist and tender that I asked about its preparation and intend to try to make it at home. Again our highest form of recommendation. We refer to that as tghe restaurant "changing" us and our cooking. This one did. We are not the same as we were when we walked in!More

It’s difficult to find the sweet spot visiting a busy tourist city- conveniently located for a visitor but delicious and appropriately priced. - aka not a ripoff. This was a perfect choice for a nice meal our last night in Prague. We all enjoyed duck...dishes (the specialty) in a quaint, comfortable fine dining restaurant. The vibe was excellent. This is not a place with a book length menu - a few excellent specialties, tasting menu, etc. The duck was perfectly cooked and moist with amazing flavor. Walk a few hundred feet from the square and enjoy the best meal at the best restaurant we ate at in Prague.More

Very good food, and their roast duck is exactly what you’re craving. Service was very very slow though. I have dined several times at their sister restaurant across the river and IMHO it is a nicer experience there. Pleasant piano player.

This charming restaurant is the favorite of our local host, a Prague-born Czech-American who has eaten here for years, and it was our best meal during our visit. It reminded us of an old restaurant on Capitol Hill in DC called "Two Quail," intimate, romantic...and cozy with attentive, amiable service and exceptional food exquisitely prepared. Quiet, tucked away, it is a gem.More

The hotel recommended another restaurant for authentic Czech food which turned out to be totally bland goulash. I had to try something else and went with this based on reviews. Walked in for lunch at 1:00 on Sunday and was seated immediately. Further diners were...turned away even though the restaurant was only 1/2 full keeping the staff available to serve the half there very well. It all looked good but I went with the house soup, roasted duck and strudel desert special. All outstanding. I will definitely add to my list to return andd hope to bring my wife next time.More

My lovely wife and I had dinner at the Restaurant U Modrê Kachnicky or the Blue Duckling on a Sunday evening. It is a delightful and eclectic restaurant with old Czech decorations and a clean white table decor. My wife’s home made venison pâté was...delicious, as was my soap of the day being a tasty venison broth. We both decided on the grilled duck with pears as a main course. It was fairly large and exceptionally tasty. We enjoyed a local Sauvignon Blanc, Gala, which was crisp and light. We had no space for a desert, although very tempting, but did have a Traminer red Gotberg desert wine which was great and not too sweet. The meal had a live piano accompaniment which added to the atmosphere and we could have listened all night. The service was really good and we can highly recommend a visit to the Blue Duckling.More
