This was a very nice “old school” restaurant housed in a multi-level, multi-room building that was formerly someone’s home. The wait staff, while somewhat overburdened, tried to be attentive to our needs. Being left alone leads to gracious dining and is very pleasing compared to American restaurants who press you as they want table turnover. The lack of attention was overcome by the knowledge that our waiter had concerning wines on the menu and his ability to flambe dishes at our table. The atmosphere and ambience of the setting made for a perfect evening. We started out with glasses of two different Czech wines coupled with an appetizer variety of Smoked Duck Breast with apple puree, a smoked venison sausage with whole grain mustard, and a Duck Liver Pâté with foie gras and cranberry jelly. Of the three varied offerings, the Pâté won the day. It was an excellent world-class offering that was rich, buttery and delicate. I would rate the Smoked Duck Breast second and appreciated the process used to turn out this item on the menu. Arlee ordered the Roast Duck with caraway seeds, plum cabbage, potato dumplings and stewed curly kale. The duck was absolutely mouth-watering and the crackling skin literally melted in your mouth and filled it with the flavor of special seasonings. She found the dumplings that looked like rolled sausages of polenta, a little heavy for her taste. The blanket of gravy was light and tasty. The plum cabbage that accompanied this plate was absolutely wonderful. I had the Flambéed Wild Boar Tenderloin that came with a green peppercorn sauce and potatoes roasted in South Tyrolean bacon. The show put on by Petr, our waiter, while flaming the sauce at our table was worth the price of admission. He was a craftsman at his trade as was noted by the people at surrounding tables providing applause upon his service completion. Petr was the consummate professional. It has been said that upon welcoming international guests by either the President of the Czech Republic or the Prime Minister, they are ushered to the Little Blue Duckling for a formal meal to show off the prowess of Czech chefs. Our meal would not have been complete if we did not order the Apple Strudel. This version came with a crust of caramelized nuts and a scoop of Caramel ice cream. The apples were slightly tart which I appreciated and the topping to my liking. However, I found the ice cream to be too saccharine and excessively sweet for my taste. I balanced this with an espresso to finish off the night. Was this night worth the cost? Yes. While it may have been somewhat expensive for Prague, the cost compared with that of a decent restaurant in a large American city did not seem out of line. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience as well as the “show” put on by Petr. Kudos to the chefs. They sure do know how to do duck and wild game meat. The Pâté was supreme.

This is the most delightful restaurant, with a wonderful romantic ambience and walls covered in historical m posters and prints. The tables sparkle with glass and silver cutlery and there are crisp, white napkins. The service was impeccable, friendly but also efficient and the food delicious. We had the tasting menu which allowed you to the range of their cooking and was remarkable value. We can’t wait to return

Reserved dinner after doing my research after specs traditional cuisine-walking distance-gluten free options. And lucky for us, I found this place near our hotel. The atmosphere was lovely, staff came as very friendly and courteous and they really understood all of our dietary restrictions which was great. Service was warm, helpful and we felt they really wanted us to enjoy our evening. The five of us settled for tasting menu and the sixth wanted to start with salad. All of us were happy, few minutes later even joyful as the salad our most minuscule member ordered turned out to be gigantic. We had no need to browse wine list in deep thought. As the staff picked the right wines according to my taste we decided to go with that, no regrets. After a while we couldn't be bothered even with the chummy keyboard player playing and singing Finnish folk song Ievan Polkka by ear. Well, he did a good job with that to be honest. If one desires traditional food in comfy setting accompanied by great service look no further. Our night was a success.

We booked this restaurant from Australia before our trip, based on the great reviews for their duck dishes. We were treated to a wonderful Appetiser selection of duck, especially the smoked duck.Followed by Duck leg- moist and delicious. We chose to accompany this with a bottle of Rose Merlot/Pinot gris. The meal was finished with a smooth and creamy Creme Brulee. Highly Recommend. Book ahead or you may be disappointed-they were busy

Lovely restaurant! Live music with a pianist was a lovely touch. Both waiters were very nice, gave great wine recommendations. Complimentary bread and a literal slice of butter was very nice touch :) My partner had roast duck off the Easter menu and I had grilled duck with fruit puree and coriander rice off the regular menu. Both were very nice! Would 100% recommend.

A latish meal booked for after the Opera , and arriving 845 which was no problem to them. Absolutely loved this place - full of character , extremely friendly waiters and fabulous food. We shared the venison pate then had the roast duck and a minted roast lamb rack washed down with a lovely Sancerre . Strudel and poached pear for pud then tried some raspberry liquer and plum brandy with coffee. Versatile pianist and quirky decor ( there's a kayak on the ceiling for no obvious reason) add to the appeal of a genuinely memorable reaturant that we will definitely be returning to.

Excellent. Truly a special experience. The food was amazing and the service impeccable. Very nice old school restaurant with white table cloths. The servers were very knowledgeable on the wine pairing and served up flambe dishes at the table. We loved the tasting meal ( with wine pairing). Duck and boar were fantastic.

Located in the old town with a very unassuming frontage. This opens up to a beautiful interior with an atmospheric dining area upstairs together with a resident pianist. The restaurant specialises in duck, and the dishes we tried were simple but well executed. Service is very good and friendly too. However, we did find this establishment to be quite expensive when compared to several other restaurants in the area.

The best restaurant in Prague!!! The service was excellent, the experienced waiter Yuri made the evening gorgeous!!! We booked in advance, but there is also a chance to get in without a reservation. They are attentive to details, anticipate your wishes, and play the piano beautifully 🎹. The duck 🦆 with cabbage and the duck 🦆 with pear were amazing, I have never eaten such delicious duck. The grilled foie gras and marinated duck with marmalade were amazing!!! I also really liked the flambéed venison in sauce, tender. Try also “slivovitz”, it is served in special glasses with legs, but keep in mind that it is 50 degrees. This was our last evening in Prague, we are happy that we ended up in this restaurant for the finale. P.s. The restaurant 🍽️ was visited by Bill Clinton and the Rolling Stones, I’m sure they liked it too!

Welcomed poorly by the waiter even though we had a reservation. Food was really expensive for Prague and not tasty. Meat was average, pepper sauce wasn’t homemade and poor wine for more than 10 euros per glass 80 euros for two main courses and two glasses of red wine in Prague requires better quality To finish with, the waiter asked for 10 percents tip… A restaurant to avoid as you can find better quality for half the price at any corner To be fair, pianist killed it and was awesome

We have accidentally found this wonderful restaurant when we were trying to find a place to eat. It was 30 minutes to 10 PM (time when restaurants must be closed as of December 2021 due to COVID restrictions) and all the restaurants on our way were closed or booked, we were very hungry. And then we have suddenly noticed this place: at the entrance we were greeted by a pleasant man (our waiter) who explained to us that the restaurant would close in half an hour and we had to act quickly :) The place itself was very wonderful and authentic. I’ve ordered some deer meet, which was prepared in front of me in a very aesthetical way (with flames and all this stuff). Overall impressions about that place was very good, the only problem for someone could be prices (they weren’t very high in general, but may be considered high in comparison with other restaurants). I recommend it anyway!

We went to this restaurant on our last night in Prague, and it was definitely our best meal. We shared the venison pate to start - very tasty followed by 2 duck dishes - one with walnut stuffing and one with pears ginger and shallot mash potatoes both excellent. We completed our meal with apple strudel and flamed pancake grand mariner which completed the evening perfectly. The piano in the background was an added bonus.

On my 6th and final night in Prague, following a recommendation I received from earlier in the week, I went to U Modre Kachnicky II (in Old Town, not on the castle side of the river). It was relatively crowded, but not completely packed, for a Saturday. I know this because two other parties arrived with reservations for the original restaurant and were still able to be seated. Even though I was alone, I wasn't rushed at all, and I thoroughly enjoyed the almost 2 hours spent there. Salad, deer saddle (flamed tableside) with potato croquettes, and an amazing warm apple strudel all accompanied by wine and a little plum brandy (and a live piano player...with a very English/American playlist) made for an outstanding evening. While pricier than the other meals I had during the week, definitely worth it and a great way to end my week in Prague. Highly recommended, but make a reservation, and double check that you have the right location.

Me and my friend received very poor service. And I hope this will never happen again to other customers. We entered the restaurant at 9:30 pm on 7 June. We ordered food right away as kitchen was closing soon. The waiter named (Risaulo, the tall one with grey curly hair) came and hurried us while we were having a soup. “ Eat ! Boys eat! Kitchen is finished. Finished!” We felt really disrespected and embarrassed. In fact, the soup with deer meat tasted as salty as seawater. We could hardly drink it up. As a matter of fact, we expected to be rejected from the restaurant rather than after sitting down being hurried to drink the soup for no reason. We complained to him and he refused to apologise. We left money for the soup on the table and left as your waiters refused to give us the bill after the soup. We were so furious we couldn’t wait for the main course to be ready. It was the worst dining experience for us in the whole Europe.

Outstanding from beginning to end! Friendly, attentive staff who warmly welcomed us and took our coats before showing us to a lovely intimate table for two. Food and wine choices were explained and recommendations given leaving us to select for ourselves. The food was incredible (maple duck breast, flamed deer saddle then crème brûlée for wife; venison broth, roast duck with ginger, pears and shallot mash followed by apple strudel for me) with a bottle of Czech Reserva Red 2019 Arte Vini. Pianist playing discretely in the background (struck up happy birthday when my dessert was presented along with complimentary calvados!) added to the ambience of softly lit, tastefully decorated interior. Fantastic meal in an excellent restaurant for fine dining experience; can’t recommend highly enough - we’ll be back!
