Yes , you can easily overdo it Prague with eating duck. Duck is served seemingly everywhere around town.
Our favorite places to enjoy the duck specialties are the two restaurants named Blue Duckling and Blue Duckling ll.
For years , since the nineties , we...made sure we had at least one good duck dinner in Prague. Back then, my husband and I always dined in their sister restaurant at the Mala Strana location, while we were staying in hotels nearby.
We stayed in Mandarin Oriental hotel , for part of this trip, so we had our first duck dinner at the restaurant located in Nebovidska street - the " original" Blue Duckling .
When we moved to Hotel Smetana in Old Town, towards the end of our trip, we decided to try U Modre Kachnicky ll . For the convenient location , since the restaurant is in walking distance to hotel Smetana.
It was about time we sampled the duck there.
We were not disappointed !
We had reservations, the restaurant was packed when we arrived.
We were warmly greeted and escorted upstairs. We had a nice private table for two, although a bit secluded. I would have preferred downstairs seating, but the restaurant was full. I was worried, that we might have less attentive service upstairs, but quite the opposite was true.
The servers were friendly and we were very well taken care off. In an unhurried, classy way!
The duck dishes were cooked to perfection, we also shared pate to start. Beer to drink. I don't remember the dessert , I am sure it was delicious. We eat sweets all day long when in Prague, not just after dinner dessert.
As we were leaving , we run into the restaurant manager downstairs, who chatted and joked around with us for few minutes, even though the restaurant was crazy busy.
I jotted down three names, the two guys that served us and the manager, who made are evening special!
Jan, Antonin and Rudolph, thank you for a wonderful, fun evening !
Till next time ,
