There are clear cons and pros for Olimpia, but the latter easily outweigh the former. The restaurant is located further from the inner districts, in a not so nice neighbourhood but still it's not so difficult to get here. The place itself is not very promising either, located in a 'basement", with no decoration, feels like a Chinese buffet. However,... More

3 fogás, vízzel, kávéval, borravalóval kb. 5000 ft/fő, de az ételek minősége és változatossága simán Michelin-csillagot érdemelne. A 3-course lunch chosen from the chalkboard with a sparkling water, coffee and tip should be around 5000 ft. You will get a Michelin-star quality for that price i bet you.

I have been here years ago a few times, now we repeated the experience. The place is a bit noisy (bistro-like). It seems to be incredibly cheap, but the portions are quite small. For dinner you are just supposed to say a number, thus choosing the number of courses you want to have. Don't be afraid to have 5 or... More

There are many places in the capital of Hungary to have your lunch, but this is the best! All the courses are created with fantasy and sense. The waiters are friendly, they learn your whimsies very quickly. Try it!

I can... More

The place call itself slow food restaurant - and that is the only truth about a place or rather a dirty hole in a basement in a not so pleasant part of Budapest. The service is truly slow, the waiters are obnoxious and their prices are estimated by the appearance of the clients. We, 8 people, went to Budapest on... More

Dear Mr " Siegfried I " We have never replied to the comments from the guest before, but the yours was very deeply outrageous and unjust so we can't ignore that! I'd like to remind you that the Hungarian Porche Club reserved table for 23 person and you with the 7 other people you mentioned were the PART of this... More

I've been several times in this restaurant and all I can say it is far the best value / price restaurant in Budapest. They are keeping the level of service and food on the top class for long time now. It's been rated the restaurant of the year a couple of years back has a high rating in Gault &... More

We had the seven course menu with wine pairings and it was totally worth the hype. The concept and the idea of ever changing menu is cool and it was nice add to the dinner that the waiters always explained us about each course and wines. Creative, interesting and delicious.

The most tasty foods are here. Choose the 7 courses menü, and be happy! Every course has a special taste, and every course was PERFECT! Thanks for the chef!

Olimpia is a little out of the centre, not far from the Keleti (Eastern) railway station, a small souterrain locale in a less-than-posh neighbourhood. It has been running for several years under the same concept: there is no menu, and you can choose 4, 5, 6 or 7 courses. The blackboard indicates the day's raw materials but what is made... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
