This restaurant is great for lunch and dinner. During dinner, a jazz trio plays and they were so good we bought their CD. Whether you order Hungarian food or "American" food, it's all good.

I've been here a number of times. This is quite a unique place with its relaxed atmosphere, the 100 coffee grinders on the wall and all the funny signs everywhere. Coffee is good but nothing special, orange grog is fantastic in the wintertime, cakes are good also. My only issue is the staff. They are not welcoming at all, especially... More

Excellent coffee, unique atmosphere, good cakes, quite close to Buda castle. We had a wonderful time here. They are roasting coffee beans locally!

I'm a local and this could be my dream café: really very nice atmosphere with all those coffee grinders and old signs on the walls, also commemorating the fact that the place was once a clockmaker's workshop. Coffee, tea, cakes and sandwiches are all really very nice - though quite expensive in Hungarian comparison. However, the service spoils everything: I've... More

Excellent place to visit with your date or your friends - a cozy little retreat near the heart of Buda. Relaxing atmosphere, no loud music, great service. Prices are reasonable. Must try the cakes and the lemonade when visiting!

By accident I stumbled upon this café. The staff is really down-to-earth (as most Hungarians I guess), so no fake smile but still a great service. Food and drinks are really good. Love the coffee, lemon-lemonade (recommend!) sandwiches and the Paleo cake. Prices are very reasonable, not expensive. No wifi or music, but a great place to read a book... More

While it can seem "too quiet" to some people, I find it an excellent place to work or journal. It has a casual and relaxing atmosphere with a fun interior and a small outdoor patio. The hot chocolates during the winter are fabulous and the warm sandwiches are quite delectable. They even serve bagel sanwhiches, which are rare in Hungary.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
