We booked by email weeks before the date and received confirmation from the restaurant yet the waitress seemed surprised when we arrived! The welcome wasn't warm and the service slow. We had to keep asking for service. The prosecco and wine weren't previously chilled. Food...More

Dinner was expensive and not very good. My husband had the ravioli in spinach sauce. One ravioli!! Mine was a cooked pork, probably off the shoulder with a mustard sauce. No flavor, not even the sauce. The steamed buns were a joke, just plain bread...More

Awful. Very expensive meal. Tiny portions. Chicken still had blood on the meat around the bone - high risk food poisoning. Pork also undercooked with raw meat around the bone. Very overbearing and full of himself waiter - just wouldn't leave us alone. Kept standing...More

Pretty average for a supposed 5 star. Only had breakfast but not impressed - eg prepared fruit salad contained tinned as well as fresh fruit.

Chess is a small restaurant, I think it strives to be a very high end place, and for the most part delivers. The food is outstanding. I had a mushroom appetizer that was Michelin star quality, and the entree of pork loin was extremely tasty...More

The interior has a chess theme, which is original idea. The portions are very small, we had soup and main course, but still was not enough. The food was tasty though, with nice decorations. There was live jazz music by a girl. The service was...More

My husband and I visited Chess at the recommendation of the concierge at our hotel, the Corinthia. We were not disappointed! We visited the night they introduced their new spring/summer menu. Everything we had was delightful!

I had the ghoulash, surf and turf and duo lava cake! The food was amazing, first class! There was a young lady and gentleman working, both of whom were fantastic. Cannot recommend enough, and will certainly return next time I am in Budapest!

District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses
the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and
colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in
an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes

the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in

Description
Italian –French-Hungarian Bistro cuisineTradition & Evolution Our Executive Chef, Levente Kovacs thinks this way about our cuisine:“The youthful and modern bistro cuisine is my world, it can renew day by day, it combines the gastronomic ‘lifestyle’ of different places in the world, even on one plate, in a way that, I don't use hundreds of spices with each other, but I’m trying to create exciting contrasts. I do a kind of kitchen minimal-design because simple can be great also. It causes difficulties sometimes for me to not to put all my ideas into one dish. I’m trying to use the raw materials as they were given to me by nature itself, changing only as much as I need. And then we get to a point, where simple is not so simple anymore. Ease and great tasting harmony in life, in the kitchen and on the plate.Simple is hard. Enjoy!”What else can we say? The Chess Restaurant is an intimate place in black and white, absolutely a place to get together frequently, where You can try new dishes day by day with it’s always renewing kitchen creativity, served simply and clearly. The Chess Restaurant opened, it’s Your move now!
