Loved the cake we had here, though we had a little trouble with the language barrier and ended up with different cakes than we asked for, however they were still very nice. We also bought some of the marzipan sweets which were very reasonably priced.

Enjoy the place very much. Also went to the new one in Vienna Austria. Also very nice. I really enjoy the yogurt ice cream that they offered with blueberries!

On a side street, just steps off of Vaci utca (the major pedestrian shopping street in Pest), Szamos is a good stop to get a great cup of coffee and a pastry. Hungary has a rich tradition of pastries, torts, cakes and pies and compares favorably to Austria, Italy and France, so don't miss this aspect of your visit. The... More

Yum, yum , yum Plus you can watch the chocolatier in the kitchen out the back, or join them for a class (classes are in Hungarian or English, I believe). Restroom clean (and free)

It was nice place to drop in for a snack. The selection of marzipans was great. This place was not so big but it was more than charming! :-) Must visit if you are in the downtown of Budapest.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
