If you want to try authentic Hungarian food, then don't hesitate to go to this restaurant. Me and my girlfriend visit Budapest quite often (3-4 times a year) and we never miss a chance to eat here. The food is very tasty, the service is excellent and the interior is nicely designed. On top of that, it is cheap (even... More

Walked past saw a menu in English and made a point of coming back to try the food. Cheap, simple no nonsense fare but hot and tasty and served with speed, menu is limited but potions are good. I had to try the Hungarian sponge pudding along with a glass of some raspberry palinka. May I suggest you do the same... More

Often travel to Budapest by family. We never miss a chance to go to Ildiko restaurant. It is situated in a great location, below the Buda Castle on the main street, close to the Chain Bridge. You can go down from the castle by steps to the restaurant. Welcomes you always smiling Ildiko. The food is excellent, the service is... More

If in Hungary, eat the goulash! I had several goulash dishes from three different restaurants during my stay in Budapest, and this place was good.

I ate here 3 times during my stay in Budapest and each time the service, surroundings and food were very good. The food is very reasonably priced (main meal costs the same as a coffee and cake in Starbucks) and the Dreher beer was good. Would recommend!

This place is a good stop for lunch after exploring the old town. The food however is average. I had goulash - a full plate of elbow macaroni with shredded meat, no vegetables. The food came very fast and was very cheap.

You do feel at home in this small restaurant and the staff is very friendly. The food on the other hand was quite average (the chicken I ate was rather dry), but the plates are very full (a whole mountain of rice next to the fried potatoes). If you like vegetables with your meal, you should order them separarately.

Ok ok ok! I know my parents would be disappointed to know I came all the way over to Budapest to eat at the same restaurant three times but... it's so dang good! We ordered the goulash, chicken and dumplings and the sponge cake for dessert. Don't skip out on the dessert! Mom and Pop style restaurant with traditional Hungarian... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
