I had an amazing time learning how to make chocolate bon bons here. The teacher was very knowledgeable and let me practice all the steps of the process, to produce my personal filled chocolate bonbons box. A number of pastry and confectionery courses is offered on their site. It can be slightly more difficult to book and find a course... More

I visited Szamos four times now and I have been extremely pleased with the quality and value of the food here for each visit. This is a great place to stop before or after a visit to the Parliament building, Great selection of coffee drinks, sandwiches are very good, and pastries are amazing. There is a chocolate museum on the... More

Good pastries, chocolates and coffee, but for the husband there's also a refreshing beer. The place combines antique and new wonderfully!

A perfect place for time-lapping back to the "golden ages" of the Monarchy. Plucky tourist can try their ability to create chocholate and pastry by their own hands

Note: Szamos Gourmet Palace on Vaci Street is an upscale coffee house frequented, obviously by upscale pickpockets. On Friday, 10 February, my husband, son, and self stopped for an afternoon coffee break at this establishment. Waitress service was slow, not that this bothered us greatly, but we became engrossed in our own conversation when two men came and sat at... More

A lovely place away from the hustle and bustle of that shopping area. The cakes were very nice and fresh. The hot chocolate was nice albeit lukewarm. The service is impeccable. Would recommend a visit there.

We stopped in here for a bit of a warm up while visiting the Christmas markets. Kids got fresh lemonades and the adults tried different coffees. The Szamos coffee with vanilla cream quickly became a favorite at our table. Very friendly servers helped accommodate our large group by moving some chairs around. Nice stop.

After a day of visiting the Christmas markets, we stopped in to have a hot chocolate. It was delicious, and the presentation was amazing. Service was excellent. The waitress suggested their apple cake, and we were not disappointed. The inside of this cafe is beautiful.

Visited the place to get some typical Hungarian Christmas candies (szaloncukor) because I thought they wouldn't accept credit card in their outdoor kiosk which belongs to the Vörösmarty Square Christmas Fair (they do :). And if already there, I ordered a cake, too. It was tasty but the chocolate icing was like rubber. When I finished, I had to realize... More

In two words: never again. They were unable to bring out our whole order, because someone forget the half of it. Then when we asked for the missing ones, they repeated this once again, but at least they tried to bill it.. The cakes are not bad, but they are nothing special - you can find much better ones in... Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
