Limonade was too warm, quiche lorraine was too poor. The staff was slow and blasé. Some people had problems with the payment (ONLY CASH!), they changed the EUR very badly. They couldn't make a crepe Suzette (it was in the menue) - the restaurant went out of basic matters at the beginning of a 4days holiday...

Went there for lunch and were satisfied with food and service. Although it is indeed nothing special and not worth making detours, it serves its purpose and offered a nice meal for appropriate prices.

This café is located close to the Fisherman's Bastion and the river Donau. They serve a great variety of dishes, both hungarian and french. My partner and I both got their club sandwiches for lunch and they were decent. Not bad at all, but they were not particularly great. The prices were pretty average compared to other cafés in the... Been here frequently in summer for home made lemonade - great view - pity there is nothing much on the menu - still in summer months the place has a buzz about it. Nice place to hang out - I think they have free wiFi ?

Slow servicde, food nice when it came and attractively presented. Rather bare decor. Not worth going out of your way for, though.

Our waiter was very good explaining the dishes and we found all the food to be very good. We noticed lots of locals along with tourists were dining here. We got to sit outside which was very pleasant. Warm blankets were available later in the evening.

Excellent food. Excellent location. Great prices. Really slow service. The staff can't be bothered to tend tables instead they spend all their time cleaning cutlery.

This restaurant is situated in the Institut Français in Budapest. Normally one would expect a French speaking waiter but this was not the case. We had said we were in a hurry, so basically it was soup or salad, which is fair enough. However, the goulasch soup was just being started (at 13.15), there was no pâté and no goats... More

The cafe/restaurant of the French Institute. Good view on the Danube and Parliament. Food "tries" to be a fusion of Hungarian and French. I found it rather average. Basic food but the preparation is average. The boeuf bourguignon I had was rather tasteless and the gratin dauphinois had a to long "encounter" with the oven and was completely dried out.... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
