It is located in a very center, just nearby Elisabeth Bridge and Vaci Utca . Ambiance and atmosphere are so impressive, and nice. Had a wonderfull time with delicious dishes out of selected Hungarian kitchen and drinks together with a quarted Hungarian folk band who come to each table and play what is asked. .

The food is great! Service exemplary, even if not terribly friendly. But the walls that surround you are totally beautiful. If you want truly Hungarian food with an ambience that astounds, you need to go to Karpatia

This mid city restaurant is sited in an ex monastery, and has beautiful architecture and a nice atmosphere. The menu is fairly small, with clear notes for vegetarian or Hungarian choices. The chef tries to present the food in a more modern way, however I felt it was only average in that it wasn't very flavoursome. I had the marinated... More

My wife and I ate at Karpatia this evening. The food was good we both had soups, she had the leek and I had 'specialty holiday season wine soup'. Both were good and had a lot of flavor. For entrees she had the veal goulash/soup (cannot remember exact name) and I had the pork medallions (pictured). Again both dishes were... More

A beautifully decorated place, as you can see from many of the photos and we very much enjoyed the atmosphere which was enhanced by the roaming "gypsy" players. The waiters were attentive and there were some very tempting dishes on offer though some of the ones which I particularly fancied were only available at lunchtime evidently. My companions were a... A delightful restaurant serving traditional Hungarian fayre, with attentive staff and a string quartet to serenade you. Delicious food and reasonably priced.

I took a walk to find dinner and randomly went into Karpatia. It was a perfect choice since I was looking for traditional Hungarian food. The atmosphere is old world and quaint. The building is beautiful. I was seated near the live Gypsy music which I was grateful and it was enjoyable. The food was good and the Hungarian wine... More

We really enjoyed our recent meal at the Karpatia, what a fantastic restaurant. Great atmosphere and excellent waiting staff. The quartet group were very good and helped to add to the special evening.

First of all: the atmosphere. The interiors are very well decorated and the ceilings are adorned with frescoes and golden details. There are musicians playing violins and typical music and they come visit each table. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is great, original and wonderfully presented. We chose a menu with 6 courses and all of them... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
