First of all: the atmosphere. The interiors are very well decorated and the ceilings are adorned with frescoes and golden details. There are musicians playing violins and typical music and they come visit each table. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is great, original and wonderfully presented. We chose a menu with 6 courses and all of them... More

Great place. Original decoration inside takes you to another time. Attentive staff. Good food. Good live music. I'm a fan.

It is very touristic place with no original athmosphere and not quality food. There are groups of tourists coming. I would rather avoid this place.

What a fantastic restaurant! Wonderful ambiance and very colourful decor. We enjoyed the authentic music from the quintet although my wife got quite embarrassed when surrounded and serenaded by the violinists. Excellent and friendly staff. The food and drink are probably the best in Buda if not in all of the city of Budapest

We picked this restaurant based on previous reviews as the final meal in our city break and, relative to other meals we had, this was a very disappointing one. The setting in the dining room was fine with the band playing all evening a good variety of music. However, this was not matched by the food. It's the first time... More

Recommended by our hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and music at this beautiful restaurant. Our waiter was friendly, fun and efficient. Food was outstanding and the wine was reasonably priced and great. Loved the musical entertainment also. Highly recommended!!

Really good food with an amazing ambiance. Live music but it was not intrusive in any way. This is exactly what I wanted when I was looking for an authentic Hungarian restaurant/ meal Highly recommend.

We were traveling with friends, and had a delightful dinner accompanied by Lajos Sarkozy and his Gypsy band. Once-in-a-lifetime experience. Excellent food and drink, and great local music.

This place is great if you're looking for a nice Ambiente, attentive service, wine recommendations, live music and beautiful decorations and are willing to pay a bit extra for it. The food is very good, but not as special as the rest. So if you're looking for the tastiest meal in town, that's not it. We paid 104€ for two... More

Hoping to find traditional live gypsy music, my wife and I enjoyed a dinner in this old-fashioned palatial room. It was accompanied by a four piece aggregation which performed a fine eclectic selection of music, including the lively gypsy numbers we like. Our meal began with goulash soup, followed by crisp duck, both very good, along with a Hungarian cabernet... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
