Lovely cafe that transports you to another time. I was there mid day on a Sunday and there was a lovely trio playing live music that just added to the atmosphere. While I was there when it was less busy, I found the service friendly and efficient. Just flag someone down when you want your check rather than waiting and... More

Popped in here for a quick snack. Had the Goulash soup and it was amazing. Great service too. A must visit for everyone.

We are an spanish couple travelling around Hungary. I couldn't understand, why, if the"kávéház" closes at 23:00, I've been expelled, on saturday evening, at 22:30 without finish my consumption? I've travelled all around the world and I've been in elegant cafes but the elegance is not only a place but also waiters. I've never felt in this way anywhere. When... More

Beautiful historic interior, great coffee and tasty local dishes, must see in Budapest. Close to the Danube, Vaci street and central vasarcsarnok.

Really nice place for breakfast with good atmosphere and spirit of old Budapest! I will recommend it to everybody who care not just about cuisine, which are very tasty here as well, but about the place where you can enjoy it in its entirety!)

A wonderful space, and with a great feel for a lost world. But the waiter told us that the whole thing was a recreation after the building was handed back to the owners by the state in the mid Twentieth century, it having been stripped bare during the Iron Curtain period. Nonetheless as good place for breakfast, but don't hold... More

We only had breakfast, eggs, omelette and pastries but they were delicious and fresh. Good service and attention to detail. Will definitely return to try other stuff from the menu.

A fantastic place to catch your breath during exploring of Budapest. The city is known to have had more cafes than Paris before WWII, and this one is a real gem. Coffee, cakes and service are all to the best of standards. I went there twice during my stay in the Hungarian capital.

This place is really something special. The home of Hungarian literature scene and one of the oldest cafes in Hungary. Prices are probably a bit higher than in other places but the atmosphere is worth it. Good coffee and cakes also. Nice staff.

We had lunch here which was simply lovely. Helpful staff with great GLuten Free knowledge and good recommendations for the food. The food itself was so good we decided to go back a few days later for afternoon tea. One of the things that was recommended was a brilliant gf sweet made from almond flour and cheesecake and jelly, so... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
