New-York Cafe, at the Boscolo Hotel, is an institute. Even locals come to enjoy the unique ambiance. The place is quite expensive (in Budapest terms) and food /drinks are decent, but nothing more. Still, the place is worth a visit, even waiting for some 10 minutes (the usual queue) in line at the entrance.

Exceot from the decoration (which refers to a palace), it's nothing special. An overpriced restaurant-café. We paid for 2 coffees 12 euro!

The cafe is a lovely place to have a break with coffee and cake. We both had a speciality hot chocolate and a cake. Lovely atmosphere inside with a pianist and worth visiting for the paintings and ornate decorations. Slightly more expensive than other cafes we visited but this cafe had many tourists visiting so it makes sense to be... More

Whatever you eat here will taste good because it is the ambiance you pay. If your priority is fine dining you should prefer Salon Restaurant next to New York Cafe. NY Cafe is a must visit place in Budapest.

We went to the New York Palace after a long walk and it was great to listen live classical music while drinking our coffee and eating our sweets in an amazing atmosphere of the architecture. I got the sweet with avocado and it was a very good choice for me since I prefer less sweet things. New York selection was... More

The New York Cafe is without a doubt a must do if you are in Budapest! We visited on our last day in the city for a mid morning drink, and were completely blown away by the stunning architecture - it felt like there should have been some kind of entrance fee! The cafe really is an experience and an... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
