The restaurant has a great atmosphere. Service is very friendly and efficient. The menu offered an embarrassment of choice and the wine list was superb. Even in the less expensive range I found a few first class wines!

We should have known better - it's in the square so a tourist trap. It's expensive and the food isn't that great. The service was friendly but to be honest, I have had better food in a chain. My husband had the chef's special, which was steak served with over cooked vegetables on a sizzling platter. I had some other... More

Found this place while ambling around Tallinn. Good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Was seated at a table near the window where I could watch the activities in the town square below. The pork shank was tender and nicely flavoured.

The Garlic Restaurant, a place you should not miss when u are in Tallinn. At the main place, near the old mayor hall there is the Garlic Restaurant. Everything is done here by garlic, even the ice cream! A wonderful sweet potato soup, a great steak served on a really hot stone, and the icecream, which i had to miss... More

A very cozy place with a super delicious food and lovely medieval setting. Not a cheap place but in no way overpriced - worth every cent.

We had lunch in this "garlic-style" restaurant. The food was great. Salad with grilled goat sheese, beetroot, pomegranate, walnuts and honey - lemon sauce was really delicious. Chicken fillet stuffed with goat cheese and herbs and served with butternut squash & raisin risotto, vegetables and a creamy sauce was pretty good. We took also for starter Garlic snacks with bread... More

In 1999, Estonia's first garlic restaurant, Balthasar, was open in the very heart of the Old Town of Tallinn, Town Hall Square, in the building of Town Hall Drugstore. Balthasar immediately won numerous fans due its unique menu and interior. Wooden interior, characteristic of a medieval building and excellent renovation contribute to the aristocratic atmosphere of the building. An excellent view of the Town Hall Square opens from t he windows of the restaurant.
